Final nine images for my portfolio
1.) Works well because it’s clean and has symmetry. Almost like a “product” shot as it’s an actor headshot.
2.) Line, repetition, light, reflections, diagonal angle. Building number as the focal point. Distinct layers - foreground, middle and background.
3.) Strong composition, colour contrast, four different types of continuous light, interesting lines on the road.
4.) Composition, interesting lighting and details. Conveys the intended theme well.
5.) Reflection, somewhat abstract. Keeps one guessing as to what exactly is going on in the image. Negative space.
6.) Composition, wet plate filter gives it sensitivity. Connection with the eyes. Negative space.
7.) Symmetry, knuckles in line with bridge of his nose. Works really well in B&W, especially the very blonde hair against black background. Has a certain mood and connection. Negative space.
8.) Tone, texture, shadows, shape, colour.
9.) Lines, colour, tone, shape, composition. Key, pocket watch and magnifying glass on spine of book all complement each other. Subtle lighting conveys mood of Victorian era.
Plan for the rest of my portfolio:
I intend on using a triptych of images from my Reportage series as one of the next pieces in my portfolio. I would also really like to include a couple of my 8x10 B&W film prints in there, although I’ll need to mount them on an A3 canvas in order to do so. I might potentially want to include one of the macro images I shot recently as well, as these show off a totally different skill to what’s already displayed in the portfolio. Apart from these, I would also like to experiment some more with painting with light in the hopes of producing something portfolio-worthy as I wasn’t entirely happy with my first efforts, as well as play around with some more interesting post processing techniques in Photoshop, especially double exposure. This has always intrigued me with film and I think it would be a good skill to be able to emulate in Photoshop.
Plans of group task and individual task
Today, I had the first class about Evidence of creative innovation and entrepreneurship and professors gave the research tasks of this term, which could be divided into two parts, Group tasks and individual tasks. As for the group task, professors asked us to think about the effect of Biophillic design and health to design the public areas, such as workspace, hotels, train stations and airports. Our group chose to design a relaxation room for the airport. There are 4 people in our group, Nabila, IVY, Youlanda and I. There are 6 weeks for us to do some research to design the room.
Group task
The task of the first week is to brainstorm ideas about the project and the subjects who would use this relaxation room. In the second week, we will make sure the participants and whether they could be researched. In the third week, the ethics form will be discussed with tutors before the activities with participants start. In the fourth week, Orangebox and Novaglaze Biophillic Design Concept will be prepared and some feedback could be received. In the fifth week, some documents will be revisited to ensure everything is clear. In the last week, some improvement will be added to make the project well done.
Individual task
Another task is about the individual task, which is required to record all the feeling and reflection of doing the group task on the blog. There are 3 weeks to prepare for the individual blog. The first week is to show some relative research methods in the lectures or workshop. In the second week, some deep potential ideas, such as commercial, cultural, ethical and environmental factors, will be posted in the blog. In the last week, some evaluation and assessment about social and environmental advantages for the users will be reflected in the blog.
I did a rough plan for all 15 weeks. Let’s do it!
