the whole "if you critique the show in any way or the cast even for miniscule reasons it means your racist and/or are stupid for not understanding how its actually perfectly canon because of xyz" thing is driving me up the wall
Making this post rn because the shit I'm seeing is pissing me off.
Stop tagging things on here if they don't relate to those things!
I have seen SO MANY posts in the past few days that are tagged with things that are not related to the contents of the post whatsoever.
I'm specifically talking to everyone in the Percy Jackson fandom. Because why tf are we tagging something "Clarisse la Rue" and it's a Luke Castellan x reader fic that doesn't even mention her?!?!(Absolutely no hate to x reader fics and people who create them, but please use the correct tags for the love of all that's good.) (This may seem like an edge case scenario but I have seen four (4) instances of this specific scenario in the past four days). I have blocked an innumerable number of people for this.
I know that I, and many other people, like to use tags to search through things/sort through content, and people doing this crap is making it harder for everyone else.
Another common thing I've seen is people tagging a post with as many different popular tags that don't even relate to the post to "boost" the popularity. Like wtf, the only interaction this is getting from me is a block.
Like if I'm surfing the tag for my niche side character, I should be seeing stuff related to said character, not having the tag flooded by unrelated posts about Percabeth or other shit.
Sorry for the rant, this has been happening for a while and it's been making me more and more angry. Everything mentioned in the post is something I have seen while scrolling through my blorbos (Clarisse) tag in the past two weeks. None of this is hyperbole. Please do better.
Popular PJO blog on here: and that's why that headcanon is problematic!
Also them: (harasses other people for their headcanons, calls headcanoning a certain character as not transfem transmisogynistic, uses targeted insults towards marginalized people, calls random words slurs, etc.)
i keep seeing sm anti percabeth (idk how i am very pro percabeth tumblr what are you doing) and like. i feel like a large amount of people forget that they are both massively traumatized kids/teenagers who are in their first and only relationship.
they’re gonna fuck up, they’re gonna be a little toxic, but overall they’re is so much communication and time and like. life that we DONT see.
percy is also an unreliable narrator (no hate but he is), he’s sarcastic and sometimes people don’t pick up on his sarcasm. he insults himself a lot and he really does see some things with rose colored glasses
annabeth and him were also friends first, so a lot of how they behave is very friend-like. the teasing of being smart (god knows my friend and i tease each other religiously for being smart or not smart). honestly the judo flip as well (can’t tell you how many times my friends and i have thrown punches at one another and before you say ‘yes well he’s an abuse victim! so it’s different!!’ yeah, so are some of my friend and so am i. we’ve talked about it, and don’t step out of line) communication is important kids!! (so is consent!!!! had to throw that in there)
we didn’t see them talk about it! they 100% did, why else would annabeth be comfortable enough doing it?
anyway i know this is a long ass rant, i’m just mildly annoyed that people think these traumatized kids with absolutely no therapy experience whatsoever are going to be 110% perfect 24/7, like yeah they’re a great relationship but hey, they’ve still fucked up. we all have
* also ik i didn’t go into every single minor detail. i am not that focused. i’ve got adhd and it’s vacation so fuck that. i also haven’t reread in a while (rlly into fantasy right now) so…..sue me 🤷

.
my spicy hot take of the day is that the pjo tv series is not good. i know that it's book accurate but i'll be so honest, the pjo movie feels more pjo because of the pacing. the saturation, the production, the urgency of the movie just made it feel more pjo. the series is so dull it's practically lifeless, because it's so keen on being book accurate no one actually asked whether it was good.
So I’ve seen some posts recently from PJO fans who are really upset about the new books. And I completely understand, and to some extent agree with them. Rick should pay more attention to his own canon and keep his characters consistent.
However, I’ve also seen some people saying he’s turning into JKR, and as a trans PJO and HP fan (tho mostly PJO) that doesn’t feel great to me. Yes, he’s retroactively changing canon and that’s annoying. But he’s not a bigot. He’s not using the money he gets from the books and the show to promote bigoted beliefs and spread hate.
It’s okay to feel hurt and mad that he’s changing things that are important to you, but please don’t conflate him with someone who purposely uses the media they created to harm marginalized communities.
And if you’re having a really hard time with the changes, it’s okay to stop reading. It’s okay to say “no, actually, my version of canon ends after BoO” or whenever. Find a fanfic that follows Percy and Annabeth’s senior year of high school (im aware they shouldn’t be seniors right after BoO but I feel like most of us have gotten over that one by now) (I’ve linked my personal favorite senior year fic, Senior Year Cliches by No2Ticonderoga on AO3 at the bottom of the post) or even write your own! If you’ve never heard of it before, look up death of the author. It basically means that once an author puts something out into the world it is no longer just theirs and other people will have other opinions and thoughts about it
Seriously, if it’s really bothering you, just decide that in your version of the story that’s not what happened. Hell treat the new books like a fanfic if you want. Even if it’s just in your head, have your own version of what happens next and how they get their happy ending. I promise you’ll have a much better time engaging with PJO if you do
