Thinking about Captain Nemo's pipe organ and yeah it's cool and Gothic but also it's exactly as sci-fi as the Nautilus itself
(I went to a pipe organ workshop today)
Because the thing is when you're playing an organ, the air has to come from somewhere. The first centripetal fan based electric pumps for organs were developed in the late 1890s. A couple of decades before that there were electric or even water motors that could activate a crank to pump the bellows "manually."
But in the 1860s the technology to play a pipe organ by yourself simply does not exist.
Captain Nemo's organ is another example of him using his engineering and electrical genius to render himself wholly independent of his fellow man. And like, he could play the flute by himself. He could play the piano by himself. But playing the organ by himself is a flex.
And organs are unique and individual. They're not just an instrument, they're architecture. The organ is part of the Nautilus and required the same engineering and craftsmanship as everything else. 2000 pipes built into a craft where weight has to be carefully balanced. The same technology that allows the one allows the other. And like you can't mail order it, it is designed for its space. Nemo has to have designed and built it himself.
