At some point, everyone reaches a limit where they can no longer sit back and stay silent about injustice in the world. However, if you do plan on attending a protest—even a peaceful one—there are some important precautions you should take with your phone before you go.
Turn off biometric login and enable a PIN or password
Know how to force-enable PIN/Password entry
Turn on Airplane Mode to prevent government tracking
Back up your data
Set up Personal Safety in Android or Emergency Contacts/Medical ID in iOS
Consider Screen Pinning or Guided Access
Phone cleaning
- [ ] First thing you could do while you clean up your cellphone, is to get rid of any unwanted emails. I used to let my emails build up so much, it would slow down my phone. So perhaps clean out your emails and it could help your phone out a bunch!
- [ ] Delete any photos in your camera roll. Instead of having a camera roll with thousands of photos, try and find photos that aren’t necessarily important and delete those. Any long videos may take up space as well!
- [ ] Uninstall any apps you haven’t used in a long time, or an app(s) you don’t see yourself using in the near future. Sometimes it can be hard figuring out what app to delete, however sometimes your phone will tell you when you last used an app if you go to settings > General > storage. Plus this way, you can see what apps are taking up the most space!
- [ ] Clear any app caches! Most apps have this, and is usually easy to find. You can go to settings and sometimes you’ll find an option to clear the cache, which can be helpful to your phone!
- [ ] Delete messages/gifs. I’m not sure about android cell phones but with IPhone there is an option where you can have it delete messages automatically after 30 days. This is a good thing to do if you want to keep space and keep your phone organized. However, if you have important messages I wouldn’t recommend doing this.
- [ ] Clear the history on your safari/browser.
- [ ] Clear out all your recent calls.
- [ ] Clear searches on things like YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest and etc for a clean and organized app!
- [ ] Delete any notes you no longer need.
I hope this helps! Remember to stay strong and take care of yourselves! With much love, ❤️
for louder speakers on phone put it in a empty glass or metal cup

Phone Tips
I feel like I’m the only one in my family that’s smart about electronics being damaged, so here’s some phone tips (note that I have an iPhone and don’t know how other phones hold up to these statements):
•Don’t leave your phone on the bathroom counter when you shower because water vapor can damage your phone, especially if you don’t have a case.
•Don’t mistreat your devices. If it’s overheating, take off the case and put it down somewhere (don’t put it in your pocket, it’ll take longer to cool down).
•Turning off your phone (or letting it die) is perfectly fine and good for your phone. Don’t let your phone die all the time. Turn off the phone for twenty minutes or so in order for the battery percent gauge to recalibrate if you need it. It’s good to do this at least once a month.
•Turn off apps if you’re not using them, or at least turn off background app function. Your phone will die faster and might overheat if you keep everything open and working simultaneously.
•If your phone shuts off and won’t turn on, or if your phone freezes on a screen, don’t be scared to do a force shut down. This is different than a normal shutdown (if you don’t know what that is or how to do it, ask someone with the same kind of phone as you).
•Unless you have a problem seeing the screen, don’t keep your phone’s screen display brightness all the way up. Your phone wastes a little more battery (it can vary from an extra 1-5% every twenty minutes), and will have a higher chance of overheating.
•Extreme temperature change is bad for your phone, but don’t do it suddenly. Don’t do anything stupid like putting your phone in the oven or your freezer. Don’t put it in the fridge either.
•Take off your case and clean your phone. Not only is a clean phone not as gross, but dirty phones can also stop charging. The headphone jack can also stop working. Clean your phone with pressurized air, or very carefully with a toothpick. Do this with devices in general, sometimes problems stem from being dirty. This is really common.
•If your device gets wet, take off the case and turn it off. Dry off the phone as much as you can with a towel, and make sure there’s no water on the inside of the phone. Use pressurized air on ports and buttons as soon as possible, and if you can’t, just try blowing the water out with your mouth (not recommended). Just like everyone screams about on the internet, put your phone in a bag of uncooked rice for at least a couple hours.
•As a general rule, don’t leave your phone’s Bluetooth function or GPS on all the time. It wastes lots of battery (even when it’s just in the background). Only turn these on if you’re actually going to be actively using them.
•Of your internet is slow or not working when using LTE, go into your settings and turn data roaming off and back on again. The issue will usually be fixed if your phone was having connection issues.
•If you don’t mind the display differences, keep low power mode on. It saves battery. My phone personally can go an extra 30 minutes. It turns off all the unnecessary phone functions, and cuts some animations short. Most of the time they’re hard to notice.
•If it’s particularly bothering you, you can do things such as turn screen rotations off, reduce white point, and change default text size when looking through iPhone settings. I personally have most of my display settings altered for maximum battery life.
Why Your Phone Is Overheating — The Complete Fix Nobody Told You About
okay so i need to talk about phone overheating because i almost had an actual incident and nobody warns you about this properly.
your phone getting burning hot is not normal. like yes phones get warm. that's fine. but "i can't hold this without flinching" hot? that's your phone telling you it's being damaged.
here's what's actually happening inside a hot phone:
— your battery permanently loses charging capacity every single time — your processor deliberately slows itself down to not catch fire (called throttling)
— if you have an oled screen, the pixels are slowly degrading
— the tiny solder joints on your motherboard are expanding and contracting until they crack
and the causes? most people only know "gaming makes it hot." here are the ones nobody talks about:
— weak 5g signal forcing your radio to blast at maximum power
— charging on your bed or couch (fabric traps heat under the phone)
— thick phone case blocking the back panel which is literally designed as a heatsink
— background malware running your cpu at 100% while the screen is off
— the phone is 2+ years old and the battery is just... tired
the fastest fix when it's already hot: unplug it → remove the case → close all apps → airplane mode → hard flat surface near ac vent
that's it. 5-10 minutes. do not put it in the freezer (moisture condensation will literally fry the motherboard).
