Lighting for Design - Adding Assets to the Level
I have started to think about and create some environmental effects made using the particle system in UE4.
I made this rainfall effect, which the player will be able to see by looking out of the windows. It is hard to capture the movement in a screenshot, but the rainfall looks believable in the level. I have also added another particle effect which creates the impression of the raindrops splashing when they hit the floor, but this cannot be seen in the images.
I wanted to create a gloomy world atmosphere outside of the mansion, and the impression of chaotic weather. This ties in with the storyline - meteors have crashed to Earth which has caused reality to split and the parallel dimension to exist.
Next steps - create more weather particle systems and maybe even a simple meteor effect to play outside of the windows, to add to the look and feel.
