Pannaria minutiphylla

This foliose lichen forms tightly attached rosettes 3-15 cm broad, made up of irregularly branching lobes. It gets the epithet "minutiphylla" for the numerous tiny lobes (aka phyllidia) crowding its lobe margins center. The upper surface is pale gray-green when dry, and "salad green" when moist due to the green algal primary photobiont. But not satisfied with just one photobiont, it also has a secondary cyanobacterial secondary photobiont contained in at first laminal to soon nodulous cephalodia dotting the upper surface. The lower surface lacks a true cortex, and appears slightly felty, and is dark brown and rhizinate. It produces substipate, brown-disked apothecia. P. minutiphylla has been found thus far in Australia and Aotearoa, where it grows mainly on the trunks of tropical trees, but also occasionally on rock, leaves, and human-made substrates.

Pannaria lurida, also known as the Wrinkle Shingle Lichen! This species is classified as threatened across Canada, and quite hard to find in my area.
