I know how to.....
So apparently there will be some Covid related product global supply issues leading in to Christmas this year and weâre being told to start panic buying and hoarding supplies in response âso we donât miss out on Christmas giftsâ.
Stuff that!
- I know how to bargain shop. I have already quietly picked up some perfect gifts at bargain prices as I found them throughout the year.
- I know how to cook. So my Christmas cake is already done and curing. I also have everything I need to make other yummy gift treats closer to the day.
- I know how to garden. I have some plant cuttings rooting at the moment that I will re-pot and give as gifts.
- I know how to Christmas. I retain and re-use wrap, ribbons and boxes. I only ever buy new (if I have to) in the post Christmas sales or from op shops.
- I know how to plan ahead and budget. These are the life skills that serve me well when times are tough.
March 15 2020 - Dutch sign language interpreter telling people to stop panic buying, or âhamsteringâ as itâs called in Dutch.
Get em while u can
âThe images of working people fighting each other over toilet paper shouldnât fill you with feelings of contempt or superiority because youâre not âstoopingâ to that, it should fill you with a profound sadness at what capitalism can do to people when alienation overwhelms us. A profound sadness, but also a rage at the system that produces this behavior, and a desire to smash it. Donât laugh at those people. Donât call them stupid. Instead, think about what youâre doing to build a system in which scarcity is no longer an issue.â

Allowing store owners to raise prices in times of scarcity discourages panic buying/hoarding and helps the store get their supply back up faster.
The free market will correct when supply returns to normal.
Artificially suppressing price through government force creates and exacerbates shortages.
Price gouging works.
Need water or juice? Too bad.
