Today i am going to complain about Prehistoric Kingdom again.
It’s been a while that i couldn’t help but notice how ever since the croc spino incident, the existing models, mainly of the more.. Popular dinosaur taxa, so to say, have been getting increasingly shrinkwrapped and overall made “meaner” looking with unnecessarily rough details and textures.
I didn’t speak up about it until now because i was on haitus due to school making me too exhausted to work on this blog, and i didn’t feel like bothering to come up just to talk about PK.
But recently, they’ve reached new heights of dreadful, and yet again, poor Allosaurus was the main victim.
Seriously this is almost Jurassic World: Evolution levels of gross overly detailed-mess, only with a proper skeleton.
And in case you’re having trouble seeing exactly what i’m talking about with the shrinkwrapping, they even made gifs to show it off.
I’d also like to note that they gave it osteoderms for some reason, as if sucking the flesh out of it’s face and taking the main skin away to replace it with a generic brown theropod with stripes wasn’t enough to squeeze any of it’s initial originality down the drain.
Seems like even if the PK devs themselves weren’t enough to drive the palaeo community away, they’re definitely trying to make sure the models will.
Other notable downgrades under the cut
I'm reading Subterranean by James Rollins, because I'm a sucker for pulp about secret caves in Antarctica, and aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggghhhh.
