EVERY single time someone is talking about how pedophiles dont deserve to live (so true), some “mental health activist” has to be like “🤓 ermmm what about people with P-OCD?”. FUCK YOU. as someone who has struggled with OCD for years, how fucking dare you compare the FEAR that you are secretly a pedophile, to actually being a pedophile???? are you fucking stupid??? that shit is the opposite of destigmatization. you are conflating the two if you bring up P-OCD on posts about pedophilia, which is directly harmful to people’s perceptions of OCD as a whole, and makes people with P-OCD feel disgusting
asking for a pocd flag
P-OCD flag
Only for those with P-OCD, transabled don't touch.
"mental health" advocates when they see someone with Z-OCD or P-OCD (suddenly they don't care about mental health anymore and just want to jump to conclusions to hurt the people they swore to help)
This also goes for psychotic people who have "scary"/"disturbing" reactions to certain things (screaming, rocking back and forth while holding their head, mumbling about seemingly "crazy" or "inane" things, defecating themselves, scratching their skin, lashing out, wetting themselves, etc.)
Everyone wants to be on the right side of history until they realize mental health advocacy includes everyone and not just the 'prettier' disorders that they oh-so-love to cherrypick and romanticize.
Everyone loves the idea of disorders being less stigmatized than they are today, but will, in the same vein, clutch their pearls when they hear a person with POCD sob about how they feel like a disgusting human being about having uncontrollable, EGO-DYSTONIC, INTRUSIVE thoughts/images about children. They will call a morally incorrect person psychotic, they will say things very reminiscent of "I'm scared that the EVIL PSYCHOTICS are able to roam freely 😰😰😰😰" with a helluva lot of padding, they will make "schizo" jokes whose whole purpose was to trigger psychotic people because it's funny.
It's disgusting how your beliefs stop at the people who's disorders don't fit into your perfect little box of what's acceptable for a fucking illness or not, as if they have any damn control over it.

per lrb. for me personally. the fuel that was feeding my ocd / the likely root of it was this mindset of believing that there was some fundamental bad or evil that I had to spend my life separating myself from. the intrusive thoughts served the purpose of providing me with something in myself I could shame so that I could prove the rest of me was good through the virtue of rejecting/expelling the “perverted” part. what’s ironic is that BOTH people’s uneducated opinions (people’s disgust at the mere idea that someone could be experiencing those kinds of thoughts) AND professional advice (you’re only having the thoughts because your morals are So Strong!) got it wrong on so many levels. obviously, thoughts do not indicate morality, and the idea that someone having violent thoughts makes them a violent person or is likely to do the things they’re thinking is egregiously misinformed. THAT BEING SAID. reassuring someone whose ocd stems from some sort of moral fear (that they might secretly be a pedophile, murderer, satan himself, etc) that the fact that they have it actually just proves How Good And Moral They Are only adds fuel to their fire because now they have MORE reason to continue to shame the thoughts in question. PER MY EXPERIENCE AND OPINION. you don’t have this fear because you’re more bad than other people, but you ALSO don’t have this fear because you’re more good than other people. You *likely* have this fear because you’re more afraid of being bad than other people. You believe there is such a thing as fundamental badness and that if it was true, if the thoughts and what you’re afraid they mean about you WERE TRUE, that that would mean you don’t deserve to live. And that’s where you’re fucking wrong. I recognize that to adopt the mindset I am suggesting requires changing your worldview about people and goodness in general. That I am suggesting that your compassion has to be radical enough to accept yourself EVEN IF you were the monster you’re afraid you are. Believe me, it is possible.
If you are openly telling people with Pocd they will act upon their thoughts you are disgusting "B-but" no buts ^ - ^
TOLD SOMEONE ABOUT POCD AND INSTEAD OF CALLING ME A PEDO SUPPORTER THEY DID THEIR OWN RESEARCH
