These overnight brown-butter yeast-raised waffles are a breakfast delight. The overnight fermentation enhances the flavor, and the browned butter adds a rich nuttiness. Perfect for a special morning treat!
Ingredients: 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour. 2 tablespoons sugar. 1 packet 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, browned and cooled. 2 cups whole milk, warmed. 2 large eggs. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda. Cooking spray or additional melted butter for waffle iron.
Instructions: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and sugar. In a separate bowl, mix the yeast with 1/4 cup of the warm milk. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. Whisk the browned butter, remaining warm milk, eggs, and vanilla extract into the yeast mixture. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir to combine. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or for at least 8 hours. When ready to make waffles, preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Stir the salt and baking soda into the waffle batter. Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or melted butter. Pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crisp. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve the waffles hot with your favorite toppings, such as syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
