Okay so. I’m not entirely convinced the last panel was about a relationship bet. 

Let’s look at this panel: 

The look on Jack and Bitty’s faces? 

Doesn’t say to me that their friends are breaking down a bet about how/when they got together. 

Their faces say to me that they told their friends and their friends aren’t making a huge deal of it. It’s 100% okay and business as usual. 

I read this the first time as “holy shit--everyone knew! They had bets going on!” 

This being the main reason why. The verbiage makes it look like Lardo had money down on “before winter break” with Holster having money on “the weekend”. 

But the fact is it quickly devolves into something that looks like the thousand and one brunch/dinner/happy hour conversations I have been involved in with friends when we’re trying to figure out how we’re going to split/handle the bill.

And I would 100% say that “alright, so it looks like everyone owes Lards since it’s before winter break” could be some other bet or promise made that Lardo never has to pay for brunch (until after Winter Break). Holster clearly owes Shitty (brunch? Coffee? Something) because it’s the weekend. If this is not a Jack/Bitty relationship bet by the way, I am desperate to know what deals lead to those payoffs. 

This here though doesn’t sounds like “bet payoff”. This sounds like “split the bill discourse”. “Who-owes-who-what-for-when” stuff. That, plus Jack and Bitty’s faces? I’m just saying.
