Wondering about cussing and expletives in Thedas (andrastian) cause weāve seen a variety in game and if people can just make their own. Besides like the ones that are obviously cussing from our world
Makerās Breath and just Maker feel like the bare bone āOh My Godā and āGodā. Yet like Makers Breath seems to be more when a character is exasperated? I mean I just flirted with Cullen and he has the whole āMakerās Breathā Can we speak about something else lineā which fitting in oh my god with the connotations we have is a little hard to see? But it feels like still the equivalent. People also say āmaker help meā which does subbing in god into that sound more real world š
But then we see characters add more to Maker in certain bits. Like a quarter of Ohgrenās dialogue is an example of it, is it worse to say makers hairy balls? Is it all in the same vein?
Makerās Breath = Makerās Hairy Balls?
Is it unique to characters? (Polite, chantry raised Alistair and Cullen vs Ohgren and other cruder characters)
- noticing on someoneās reblog of this I forgot thereās also a vein in how characters also curse using andrasteās name! -
I speak Japanese and like thereās little curse words in the language and it just matters how you use the words and vocal tones. The meaning of āććā changes if you add more, direct it towards another person and how you say it. I was wondering if itās sorta similar?
Anyways this was my yap sesh I was curious lowkey how other people possibly interpret the world specific cursing for humans/andrastian faith believers. Elven seems more easier as they focus on fenāharel predominantly and mention disgracing other gods in dialogue,, Dwarven also seems to be more āby the ancestorsā.

Ohgren, to the Warden about Anders: Whoās the mage? Boyfriend?Ā
that is the smartest thing he has ever saidĀ
Thedas Park Boys
That moment when you have an awesome reminder that BioWare is Canadian! Saw this on Gamers of Thedas Facebook group:
Which of course immediately reminded of:
If you donāt travel with Wynne and either Ohgren or Zevran in your party your making a mistake.
She tried to ask Zevran about his past and he started talking about her chest. Itās hilarious.
