Taylor at the Songwriterās Hall of Fame red carpet!
Your mystery question is here :)
š³ļøāā§ļøTrans Pride: How is the idea of gender/queer identities treated in your world? What was your character's experience like?
šRainbow: Has your character ever been to a Pride event?Ā What was it like for them?Ā If theyāve never been, what would it be like?Ā Ā
Thanks so much!

Iām going to use the first question to explain the wizards and gender identity, itās been in the back of my mind for a while but I havenāt fully explained it (it probably also could use some work but anyways)
So, wizards are their own species. Characterized by circles on their fingers that glow when they perform magic, and the ability to be in touch with magic and control it in the first place. The main difference between them and animals with magic is that theyāre sentient and resemble humans.
Wizards dont have multiple genders, they rather have one gender that encompasses everything about male and female. They probably have their own word and pronouns for it but I havenāt developed the wizard language yetā¦
Now, this does not mean thereās no discrimination. As example, Alphairs dad is more well known then his mother. That is because of humans. You see one of the more recent gen of wizards (one or two behind Alphair. Their gens are fairly small) started integrating themselves with wizards, and so putting their own gendered terms onto them. Some wizards accepted this and embraced it.
Thereās still a lot to figure out, but the gist is their gender is pretty special to them and canāt be fit into traditional two gender roles.
As for the humansā¦Westwend is a little different. They more closely align with traditional gender roles. Except not with jobs, those are separated using a whole different system. But as for man and woman, they adhere by that. And can be pretty transphobicš, which is why Miss Marmel left.
I donāt think Norah thinks too much of it. Itās more about who happens to get into power. Like for Rufus, itās not that heās a boy that gives him power, itās that his parents run the place and that he is physically strong because he trains, thatās more how he sees it.
For specifically sexuality that can get tricky. I donāt think itās talked about all that much, at least with the humans. Cause they wanna have babies and all that. Antonio is pretty homophobic lol (including internally :)

Now this is fantasy so thereās no pride events butā¦if they did it would be Alphair dragging them to it (I mean he already does when I draw them for every pride month.) I think they would have a very good time, but it would have to be after Rufus starts accepting his own identity. I think itād be very cathartic and healing for Marmel too, sheās been through a lot. Perhaps her and Daress would host their own parties post book three.

Thanks again for the questions!
Late to the party but 38 for Brosca?
"Is there any decision that the Warden regrets? If so, which is it and why? How would they change it?"
Oh thanks for the question! š
Just one regret she is not going to tell anyone: Killing her friend Leske. He forced her hand, she tried to give him an out and he didn't take it. Brosca knows she'd do it again, doesn't make it not hurt though. The Sacred Ashes temple helped more than she'd ever admit to calm the guilt.
Also not a regret exactly but... becoming a Grey Warden she saw as necessary at that moment. But the Calling waiting at the end of everything is another matter. She wants a cure. At any cost.
