I just finished a very good book and so itβs time for fics and fanarts!
On the right there is the racist bastard that will not apologize for taking away your bodily autonomy rights but-that-secretely-loves-yall-very-much! And on the left the most precious im-gonna-die-and-im-totally-ok-with-it level 2 autistic coded genius mess.
In my mind they fuck every Thursday. They are both very stoic and slightly confused about it.

Why I think Sissix "curing" Ohan would have been more interesting
So, I was in my Biology of Sci-fi class and we were talking about aliens. The professor said to think of some aliens we had seen and of course my mind went to the Wayfarer series by Becky Chambers that I've read almost all of the books 2 to 3 times when I was in high school. And I always thought the Sianat pairs were such an interesting concept, which of course led me to thinking about Ohan, which then led me to think about how they were "cured". I think having Corbin, the guy that everyone already kind of dislikes, be the one to do the morally dubious action at the end of the book is an easy route to take. I understand why it was taken, as wrapping up the morality of that whole situation when you are trying to end a whole book would be hard and probably not give it justice. It also makes sense, as Corbin is known for not respecting cultures other than his own.
But.
I think Sissix would be a really good candidate instead, if it happened earlier in the book (still towards the end half when Ohan is really not looking so hot but not right after the climax). This wouldn't be out of nowhere as well, since Sissix really seems to not like the idea of Ohan dying and is very questioning of the situation. I don't know what the inciting incident of this would be tbh because Sissix is a lot more level-headed and I don't see her doing something as drastic. But it would be really interesting how the whole ship and readers would reconcile with Sissix, the beloved pilot and point-of-view character's love interest, deal with the fact that she violated a friend's autonomy like that. Now that I'm thinking about it she'd probably get fired. I don't know how Corbin didn't get fired, and that's probably because this moment isn't really treated with the justice it deserves as many people before me have discussed. Well, that's my word vomit that like two people will see. Hope it was interesting.

Corbin: Undiagnosed Autism (I like the guy, I feel a sort of kinship, too bad he's a space racist)
Sissix: Cool older cousin
Ohan: Diet mentat
Lovey: Tied with Dr. Chef in first place. I have a soft spot for robots in love.

I don't get how Rich (I'm shocked its not white) guilt is true. To my knowledge humans aren't the hegemonic species.
Also though I don't think the book portrays humans as the most aggressive species (as far as I know ATM) but I do agree that the comment about all human games being about conquest is a bit reductionist and Eurocentric. I think that Humans are Space orcs does a much better job on that respect.

Later in book 2 he takes on a human alias and travels as a ronin. Grows his hair out to cover his clipped ears. Ignore the fact that his tat and cut eyebrow are on wrong side. Lol. I completely backwards everything in this quick sketch.
