The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers is such a fucking good book. Hitting all the right buttons for like... space traveling crew stories. I vibe hard. Having such a good time reading it.

It will never feel the same as it did when I was a kid. I’m different now. And different is good, but it cuts both ways.

imagine an aeluon scratch-off gambling company who intentionally makes the winning pages be numbered with shit that means "losing" and "you die" in their symbols
You got your hair slicked back and those Wayfarers on, baby

i need to confess that while reading the long way to a small angry planet i couldn't help but imagine ohan as fusion of falkor and sisu 🤧

becky chambers voice: so i hear your complaints with the way i handled race in wayfarers and i think i’ve done a pretty good job at addressing them in the monk and the robot! it was really insensitive how i implied the presence of people of color without actually engaging with their cultures or racialized features. So i just decided that nobody has a race that is mentioned at all in this next series! hope this helps 💖
