27th May: NON-ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP DAY
The third day of @originalficfest‘s event is here, and I’ll be sharing a bit about how the three characters I introduced on day 1 relate to other people and each other. I’m a bit late with this one, it isn’t the 27th here anymore, but it’s still sunday for the mod’s chosen timezone so I’m sorta makin’ it :) EDIT: No, no it’s just gone monday. Oops.
Rosa Sere Ollet
Rosa Our protagonist doesn’t... people good. Outside of family and a few childhood friends back in Carmine, she doesn’t tend to get along well with others. Both Sere and Ollet are exceptions to this. Sere is a fellow investigator, and their friendship first develops in Loose Teeth on the basis of a shared investigation. From there it’s maintained through their mutual regard for each other, love of animals and, most confusingly to Rosa, Sere’s enthusiasm for her company. Rosa’s friendship with Ollet is built off of good-natured teasing, an almost sibling-like relationship, and their mutual work-a-holic tendencies. She seldom admits to how much she values him, or he her.
Sere The more sociable of the trio, Sere is friendly almost to a fault. She is warm and comfortable with people moments after meeting them. Despite this she doesn’t often let people into her inner circle, but keeps them at a cheerful arms length. Rosa is one of the few people from the office who she has developed a deeper friendship with, due largely to her respect for Rosa’s dedication and honesty. Ollet was once a regular customer when she was working part-time at a local cafe. They got along through a shared sense of humour, and when she mentioned looking for a new job he got her a position at the AP office. Sere likes him for his loyalty, wit, and mostly hidden kindness.
Ollet As a receptionist Ollet is generally good with people, on the surface level. However his snark often puts folk off. Because of this he maintains convivial relationships with everyone at the AP offices, but doesn’t consider many to be true friends. His friendship with Rosa has grown out of her lack of offense at his more barbed remarks, and the fact that they’re often the only two at the office at odd hours. Despite his teasing her for overworking, he actually respects how devoted she is to her work. Sere first gained his respect with her handling of difficult customers at her old cafe job. Since then she’s shown herself to be a good friend, and a handy check against his more sour moods.
