To douse a scalded tongue by Yaelokre
“wow I love ospreys they’re so me! I’m gonna make my WoW user osprey related and name my planesona Osprey :D” crying started thinking and realized I might just be an actual deadass osprey. I’m investigating them as a theriotype now
Question for polytherians:
How can you be two identities at once? Like, how does it feel?
As a monotherian I have always been extremely confused by the concept, especially when someone is two completely opposite animals at once. I am so clearly an American kestrel and I cannot comprehend how I could be anything else. I get cladotherians because all of the animals have a base level of similarity, but like... how can you be both a bird and a fish? Lizard and wolf? Don't those conflict? This is a genuine question, I want to learn.

Tips for a bird of prey?
Hey anon!
Since I don’t know the specific bird of prey I’ll just be going off the top of my head here!
For prey drive:
Try buying some marshmallow mice and hunting those! (Obviously make sure the surface you put them on is clean) Certain species of raptor also eat smaller birds! So making prop birds and hunting those may also help with prey drive!
For gear:
If you like gear try making your types mask! The materials you’d need are EVA foam, cardboard, a cardboard cat mask or a plastic one from Amazon, some fabric paint, fake feathers and maybe faux fur! There’s plenty of tutorials online for them :)
There are also plenty of wing bases you can make that can attach to a harness around your chest! But if you experience wing shifts on your arms/where your wings would be, you can make custom faux feather sleeves to flap!
For phantom shifts:
If you’re having wing dysphoria, try flapping your arms or moving your shoulder blades! Physical movement can help with phantom shifts in my experience)
If you’re having claw/talon dysphoria, wear some acrylic pointy nails! Or if your natural nails are long enough- sharpen them with a nail file!
For vocals:
Try practicing vocals! Most birds of prey have simpler screeches to mimic, and I’m sure you could be great with practice!
For behavior:
Try studying the behavior and social interactions between birds of prey! I find that mimicking the movements and behavior patterns of my type can alleviate a lot of social dysphoria. Birds of prey’s social dynamics can range all the way from loners to family flocks! Birds of prey (and birds in general) are also very territorial of their nests! Perhaps making a nest and guarding it will help with dysphoria :)
For nesting:
I’m sure you’ve heard of making a soft nest out of blankets on your bed but you can also make a soft one out of sticks outside! Making a fort and then building inside of it might help! You can also put blankets in there, just make sure that they’re meant for outside. Or just blankets you don’t care about getting dirty!
This is all I thought of, but let me know if you want more!
