they ignore each other at work.Â
      maybe not fully ignore, but once anderson got off medical leave and was cleared for field work, gavin and connor went back to their normal work routine, speaking to each other when necessary and remaining professional beyond a few ( well-humored ) insults here and there. occasionally, he’ll get a look from across the bullpen that lasts a little longer than it needs to, and there was that one time he was yanked down to the locker rooms for a quickie but otherwise, work is work. personal is personal.Â
      it’s why gavin has his back to anderson and connor as they move into the break room, pouring himself a cup of coffee but only after he rinses out his mug that he forgot to clean last night. he doesn’t engage the two conversing, barely pays attention to the old fart talking over the running water. that is, until he hears ‘date’ come out of the fucker’s mouth. gavin’s rinsing stops.
      how’d the date go last night? must’a been alright, you didn’t come home-Â
     gavin tunes out after that because one he doesn’t want to hear anderson talk shop with anyone and two, he’s...pissed off? why is he pissed off? he shouldn’t be, he knows he shouldn’t be because he was the one who said just fucking around, no strings attached to this when it started last month. he encouraged connor to look elsewhere during whatever they were doing because he’s not the dating type. he fucking told the rk unit they shouldn’t date, it’s not a good idea, so why the fuck does he feel something in his stomach curdle like milk at the prospect that connor went out with someone else last night? Â
     he doesn’t care. gavin repeats this to himself as he abandons his mug in the sink, turns off the water, and leaves the break room, leaves the bullpen all together to stomp outside.Â
