if you were to decide what animals ur ships(willmack, bedmint, etc) would be in a hybrid au, what animals would they be?

i love hearing what animals other people think of these aus so i’m curious:)

i think mack would make a wonderful bunny, despite will being the one that has the teeth for it. he would have pretty floppy ears and a bushy tail that will would absolutely love to tug on. his foot would thump whenever he’s happy or excited, which would be an almost constant around will. will himself would be a dog or even a wolf, his attentive ears twitching at the slightest sound and his tail wagging wildly whenever he’s excited, his sharp canines glinting between his lips when he’d smirk, growling whenever another predator hybrid gets close to mack.

fraser would be a bear, no questions asked, big and warm and gentle until probed, then he’d turn deadly. he would have pretty round ears poking out of his curls and giant paw-like hands that he’d steer connor around with. connor would be a cat, the standoffish kind that glares at you silently when they want you to pet them but don’t know how to ask for it. he would have pretty pointy ears and a tail that would almost always be either wrapped around his own leg or in his hands as he fidgets with it, unless he’s with someone he trusts, like fraser or mack (not frank, because frank the dog would just make fun of him for it) then it would be swinging swiftly behind him or wrapped around some part of them. he would purr whenever he’s curled up with fraser, a little awkward and staticky, and silently headbutt him for pets.

samisa would both undoubtedly be dogs. misa with his sharp little puppy teeth that would gnaw on anything they could possibly latch onto. (ie: any part of sam’s body they can reach) his ears would be floppy and he would get embarrassed about how much his tail wags when he’s around sam. sam would be less puppy-like, but he would still be a giant oaf. the kind of big dog that still thinks they’re a lap-dog, just big and clumsy with pointish ears and a tail that’s constantly wagging no matter what he does, and giant paw-like hands.

we’ve already talked about that one together, but gabe would most definitely be a fawn, some kind of male doe. with his big beautiful doe eyes that would make it so that no one could ever refuse him anything. his bushy tail and pretty ears would be very twitchy and he would get embarrassed about it, and they would be a light shade of brown with white spots. matt could be be a giant dog, very similar to sam, clumsy and still thinking they’re a lap-dog, but the difference is that he would be more mindful of his size and try to be as gentle as he could with gabe. but the other option i’m very fond of is a stag. imposing and with gorgeous antlers that would bump into everything and that gabe would help him shed the velvet off of, but he would ultimately be the gentlest and clumsiest of stags, still incredibly fawn-like and playful, and quite honestly a little ridiculous, but incredibly protective!

ive just been thinking about those fics where a prev traded omega/sub was like, wholly unattached to the team before the new guy comes in, and im thinking about how mancini might have been like that with the wolf pack.

gabe getting to hartford and noticing that not only do the other guys only smell very faintly of mancini, the locker room doesn't even have the barest trace of the omega's scent in it. which is wrong. but gabe just assumes the staff had done a precautionary cleaning so that gabe wouldnt feel threatened by the former omega

that is until the guys start acting weird when he offers to do things for them. grabbing a role of tape turns into a standoff at the equipment table. offering his scent before a game to anyone who might need it gets various snarls and, on occasion, snaps of teeth

gabe hadnt thought they were that attached to mancini - if they were, they probably would have kept him, right?

so his only option is to talk to the one guy who hadnt tried to rip out his throat when he had bared it, the same guy who'd had his instincts going haywire

matt shuts down whatever bullshit theory gabe has about the boys being attached to mancini and therefore hating gabe for replacing him. he explains that the boys just have no idea what to do with an omega like gabe because theyve never met one like gabe.

most omegas, if they want to make it in the league, have to sacrifice a lot of their needs and ignore their instincts to be taken seriously. ones who didnt, regardless of their skill, were taken advantage of and tossed around from team to team

gabe vaguely remembered playing against an omega who had been drafted very high up, but had been raised like gabe, had put his team before himself, and got walked all over - got depressed from it too.

gabe did not want to be like that, did not want to throw away his potential, but he had also seen the boys at bc, especially will and leno, thrive because of his presence, his scent.

by the end of his conversation with matt, he doesnt know if he feels better, or worse, about how the boys have treated him. all he knows is he wants to fix it

ive been thinking a lot abt ABO perrempe lately because yeah

but im actually obseessed with the thought of omega gabe imprinting on alphas will and leno in college and the three of them being like scent-bonded (idek if that's a real thing)

and then when he gets drafted to ny and they all split up, then his play/point-production plummets bc performance and bonds go hand-in-hand

and hes like scared bc he doesnt want to be useless but he doesnt know what to do

and will and leno try to help whenever gabe plays against one of them, bringing him some of their clothes to help him, but it doesnt really help gabe + hes scared to ask for help from any of the other guys on the rags

so gabe gets sent to the wolfpack, one recently sans their omega in victor mancini. the scent is fading

and its wrong, because the boys should be smelling like a pack, at the very least a team, each other, but its muted on most of them

enter matt rempe whos been on blockers since he started playing hockey because its bad enough that hes an alpha without having his threatening bigass frame to accompany it. since only one of those issues could be mitigated, blockers it is

that really does it for gabe, because hes been so nervous about a bond between his best friends who have shown zero interest in him and his maman would tell him she raised him better than to neglegt his pack and this alpha who most definitely has been shunned from one

and like matt is not expecting gabe to go near him bc he heard he was bonded and no bonded omega is stupid enough to risk being near an alpha that isnt their own.

but gabes sick and tired of playing bad, and hes sick and tired of not getting the attention he needs from the alphas he imprinted on. and hes sick and tired of catering to what others think is "right". and honestly, hes just sick and tired of not having a pack.

hes got his instincts and surely thats enough, right?

he can take care of these boys, fill a hole that had the whole team squandering and he could make this alpha feel more natural, get him off blockers and into the pack. cover the blank canvas of his scent with gabes own
