If they were still working in the GCPD when they started dating, Jim would most definitely become over protective, and would kick anyone's asses if they wronged Ed, or treated him the wrong way.

If they were enemies, Jim would get calls in about a case, or an attack of some sort, he would deny all evidence that led to Edward Nygma, and he would probably come up with very convincing evidence that it wasn't ed.

Jim would honestly do anything to keep his Riddler

Edward Nygma loves waltzing, Jim learned to love it when Ed would constantly want to dance with him, JIm also had played a few instruments back from when he was in high school, Ed played the violin, they would play some classical music together, have a small date and go out to dinner, ect, ect.

Jim was overly jealous when he found out Oswald had feelings for his boyfriend, he became more protective, and more aggressive towards Oswald, he knew how much Oswald loved the riddler side of Edward Nygma, so he tends to keep Ed away from Him, or at least just advises Ed to stay away from oswald, he isn't that controlling, if ed wanted to hang out with Oswald Cobblepot, so be it, as long as ed was happy, that's all that ever mattered to Jim
