🎥 Fun embarrassing fact that some of you remember, in high school I wanted to be the Filipina #LaurynHill. I had a notebook that I would write lyrics / poems in all day and I always attempted to freestyle with the boys like #Delta9 or battle at events like the Halo Halo picnics or enter events like @iamcros1 @freestlesession. We even recorded a song called “The Basement,” on tape. 🙈😂 Looking back I see how bad I was, but didn’t we all went through our 4 stages of loving every element of Hip Hop from mcing to DJing to b-boying to graffiti (art). 😊Fast forward, @rubyibarra IS & more then the #Filipina #LBoogie, shes an amazing writer, producer, filmmaker with a beauty & humble soul. Everytime I see her perform whether a small gala room to a huge sold out stage, she puts in 150% energy into it and involves the crowd. Thank you for making my MC dreams for 5 seconds come true here. You are the voice & face of not only Pinays, but an inspiration to women across the globe, transcendent of race. Let’s show your #NothingOnUs documentary in LA soon. Until then I’ll stan proudly when I see you on @MasterCard billboards, performing to sold out crowds or speaking at @apple 💪🏾❤️🇵🇭 ** #IslandWomenRise #Walangmakakapigil #SIPAGala (at The Majestic Downtown) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqXjk8RFJn6/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=zj792fmb9rka
