Last night, like most nights for the last few weeks, I was working on my artsy business until about 2 am. I thought how crazy it is that I can paint a painting, and then scan it, edit it, send it to the printers, have it sized down and go pick it up. I then punch out hundreds of little prints and glue them into the metal trays I order. I make as many as I can at once, to not waste any of a batch of resin. Each prep takes me about 2 hours. Then I mix resin, which is sticky and gross and has to be stirred constantly for an exact number of minutes to combine. I use pippettes, which are like eye droppers, to fill every little metal tray with resin. It’s too cold for resin to set right now so I have a set up I’ve created in my laundry room with heat lamps, and I put the resin pieces underneath. I have to torch them individually with a bbq lighter every 15 minutes for about 2 hours to keep bubbles from reappearing- but almost always lose at least 2-3 pieces because there’s a fine line in the set point. After they finally set, several hours later, I get out the pliers and make them into earrings, or necklaces, or charm bracelets. Then I attach them to display cards, bag them, and put them in a box, and keep going. Last night it made me laugh a little because I thought- it’s amazing how much artists will hustle for $10. 😂 #thatartistlife #notcomplainingjustexplaining #laboroflove #allartistsarelikethis #artworkiswork (at Art Uncorked Downtown) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5Vo3VKpCV6/?igshid=1j7pjf5kwdnhq
