Assuming your asks are still open for this, it’s genuinely almost comical to me, personally, seeing creators failing to understand that they can’t force people not to ship them/their characters, and the best thing they can really do is set up rules against shipping in their spaces (stream chat, discord) and block any accounts/tags that make them uncomfortable.

I am almost 100% certain its purely thought out not anything else, but the lack of a functional way to not see things you don't want to see - or even going looking for them - and the implication you keep looking reminds me of displays of degenerate art in nazi germany, where they'd put on public exhibitions of banned art to show people how horrible it was (and therefore they should hate the jewish, gay, romani, etc artists who created it). It's not that, but sometimes the hate mobs feel like they work in the same ways.

unironically this makes me apreciate scar's aproach to shipping. He clearly knows and even lurks in fandom spaces and says stuff that to play into it both directly and indirectly. But discussing the topic of shipping on detail makes him uncomfortable, so when fans or other ccs ask him about it he changes topic to shipping packages. Which is a super fun way to show how to avoid topics you dont like on stream without making a great deal that will let people just laughting and moving on and not arguing on twt for weeks
