Ok damn it's come to my attention that some people feed their cats and dogs "vegetarian / vegan" diets

Please no

It's perfectly respectable as a human diet because we're omnivores - it's more environmentally responsible to eat no or little meat even ignoring ethics - but your carnivorous pets need meat

I'm going to talk about cats for a moment because I don't know jack about dogs so buckle up

Cats need amino acids and fat to survive. Plants give them neither of these things. Your cat may look healthy but it will die (painfully) if you feed it only plants

They don't have the enzymes needed to break down plants as food either.. so it's going right through them and you might as well not feed them at all

Your cat will die or malnutrition if not kidney failure. It will go blind. It will suffer.

Don't punish them for being hypercarnivores. They NEED meat. If you can't handle feeding a cat a meat rich diet, don't get a cat, because giving it a diet that will harm it is abuse

There's nothing wrong with giving cats vegetables as treats, or sharing a cracker, or providing them with rice cooked in broth because you didn't realize you needed cat food and nothing is open until the morning

But cats need a diet of 70% meat or more

Give it to them.

I’m on the hunt to find out if there are cooking method alternatives to normal ‘grilled cheese’ that are comparable because I really really dislike butter.

This is trial one. The parameters of this experiment:

- must use american cheese slices;

- must use normal bread (white or whole wheat depending on what I buy);

- must utilize a stovetop frying pan or skillet.

The bottom-most grilled cheese on the plate is my control grilled cheese, referred to after this as Butter Hell. As most similar Butter Hells, it has a slightly rich taste, melted cheese, and a browned texture. Both cheeses were cooked for as long as it took Butter Hell to brown (as I’m not burning my food for this shit).

The only differences in prep between Butter Hell and Blasphemy 1 are that Butter Hell was, of course, buttered - and Blasphemy 1 instead utilized its part of the skillet being covered with a thin layer of cooking oil.

In the same amount of time, Butter Hell pleasantly browned, while Blasphemy 1 became slightly toasted bread. Blasphemy 1′s cheese did not melt at all during the course of this experiment. In addition, Blasphemy 1 tasted like slightly toasted bread with a slice of mediocre cheese on it, while Butter Hell tasted like a raunchy and extravagant indulgence.

As of this time, I could not recommend currently researched alternative grilled cheese sandwiches, but I will keep trying.
