I recently read a post discussing the word counts of some famous books â notably the HP and LoTR seriesâ â and about how fandom content can rival that in terms of writing skill and how itâs free, and it got me thinking. Has anyone else noticed that I am completely obsessed with er, am massively in love with  *ahem* uh, really think @femmequixoticâs Tales from the Special Branch is pretty cool? So I did a tally, and look what I found:
Tales From The Special Branch : 1.018,226 words - since February of last year. And itâs honestly one of the most complex, interesting, hottest fics on the fucking planet, featuring Slytherin Aurors, Powerful!Harry, magical theory through the roof, mystery and pining and humour and feels, some of the coolest OCâs youâll ever encounter, House Magic (itâll make you cry, itâs so good), and pretty much every kind of sex you could ever imagine or want to read or engage in (excluding: squid porn. So far.).Â
Plus, her recent contribution to Kinkfest, When You Kiss Me (What a Lovely Way To Burn) which clocks in at 22k and has a gorgeous depiction of a Draco whoâs knows himself, and works in a muggle drag burlesque bar, where he sees Harry for the first time in years during a performance. Itâs such a tempered, insightful and beautiful fic (and also has hot af sex with red lipstick because that was the prompt and itâs Femme, and i c r y itâs so good).
And: Things Worth Knowing , written with her (also outrageously talented) wife @noeeon , is 164.5k words and seriously? If you want an eighth year fic to read, this has post-war drama, antagonism, friendship, Bisexual!Harry coming to terms with himself, sex pollen, falling in love, and so much blistering sex your phone/computer might fizzle out. Itâs also got one of the sweetest grand gestures youâll ever read, which will make you fall in love with Harry all over again.
Oh, and did I forget to mention this little ditty? Waiting By an Open Door , at 29.5k? Also written by @femmequixotic  and @noeeonâ  (and thank fuck for the dream team writer rl couples in this fandom who never fail to take my breath away), this one was written for *cough*, uh, me. :D Which was also something that took my breath away, because it featured Draco trying like hell to move on from his life after the war, to make something of himself, and Harry slowly but surely seeing the way he changes for the better. It has owls and pining, and a slow coming together thatâs mind-bendingly sweet. (Also, I feel like I shouldnât have to mention this anymore, but, the sex? The S E X??? ASTOUNDING.)    Â
Which is, for those of you who are still with me, roughly one million, two hundred thirty four thousand words in just around a year. A year.
And this is all free content, like, rastheyurareygfabothuecockhbsdanondfs?!?
