It’s true though. 😉) What you don’t see in this picture is my fingers going numb, because I had to repeatedly take off my gloves to adjust my camera throughout the night. This is around the moment when the 20° temperature had finally become too much. The pain as they started to warm and the feeling came back was excruciating to say the least. While in the car on the way home, I found out my thick gloves had an internal set of thinner gloves. 🙃 I thought they were just a fluffy liner until I felt the velcro. 🙃🙃🙃 Anywho, I like this picture a lot. You had a crush on Austin Butler. What wasn’t to like about the man? He was charming, thoughtful, gorgeous. That rare and perfect combination of masculine and beautiful. Some men were masculine but not beautiful, others the opposite. But occasionally someone came along that embodied both qualities, such as Austin. It was only natural that you had a crush on the man.
But Austin? Oh, he was head over heels, fly me to the moon, irrevocably in love with you. At least he thought he was. You were skeptical, doubting you could actually be in love with someone after knowing them only a week, but he insisted that he was. He had white picket fences and forevermore in his eyes. And you? Well, you liked the attention, liked the adrenaline rush you got when he love-bombed you, liked how he made you feel like the only desirable girl in the world.
But your heart of tin begged him not to make too much of it. It was just some little thing. You weren’t looking for more than a good time, not right now at least. You were too restless, too mercurial, too young and free to tie yourself down to one man. One famous, beautiful man. At best, he was infatuated with you. At worst, he was just bored, filling his time until the next project, next premiere, next awards ceremony. But he wasn’t in love with you. Things like this burned bright and quick, like a comet racing through the sky.
“I love you,” he said for the hundredth time, in between kisses, his plush lips pressed to your own. You sighed and pulled away, searching his ocean eyes for meaning or at least a hint of gravity.
“Austin. I…” you began, your thoughts heady and jumbled from his kiss. “It’s just a little crush, right? Not like we have a date with destiny or anything.”
It’s called a crush for a reason. No one escapes unharmed.
