Stephanie Lauter is a vampire, she thinks, because Grace only sees her under the glow of the moon, only gets glimpses of the deep brown of Stephanie's eyes when the stars align to hit them just right. She crinkles her nose at the click of Steph's lighter, and further scrunches her face at the smell of cigarette smoke that leaked into the room a moment after. Everything she grew up with instinctively made her want to smack it from her lips and lecture her about how sinful it was to destroy her body. Yet, she remained silent as she watched Steph from the corner of her eye, black lipstick smudged, smoke rolling from her lips as Steph slowly exhaled.
