It very much depends on the timeline, but I think Steph would have the realization once she stops finding Grace annoying (or at least much less annoying than usual) and instead of getting frustrated she just rolls her eyes affectionately. Then she goes home and goes "Oh god. I think I'm in love with Grace-fucking-Chasity"
Grace would have a hard time telling (#arospec grace) because she's always considered Steph a friend and had a level of affection towards her. Honestly I don't know if Grace would ever be able to get to the point of knowing 100% that she's in love. But I do think she would realize that she's having thoughts about Steph much more often than any other thoughts & would feel like she can be more vulnerable around her.
🌹 Who fell harder & who fell first?
I think it's kind of a toss-up. Grace has always liked Steph (and just didn't realize that it was any kind of non-platonic attraction) so you could say she fell first, but I also think Steph would realize first that she's into Grace, and then when Grace realizes it's a harrowing experience because she has to re-contextualize everything she's ever known and done.
