You turned on your seat to look at Seokjin with a quizzical expression. You couldn’t pinpoint the reason why you had your doubts but something felt off. But since you found nothing concrete you granted him the benefit of the doubt.

That was until Jin steered the car onto a thin dirt road. Nothing but nature covered in snow and ice surrounded you. 

You narrowed your eyes. There was no way someone had built an ice skating arena out here. “Jin?! Where are you driving us to?”

“The best ice skating place there is.”

A sigh escaped your lips. You knew you wouldn’t be able to get anything out of him. If Seokjin wished so, he could be very secretive. Though you knew something was off, you didn’t think he lied just now. You knew whenever he lied because his ears turned bright red as soon as he tried. 

You glanced over your shoulder. There were two bags with skates, a large thermos flask with hot chocolate and a bunch of snacks, should one of you get hungry. With that you knew he really wanted to take you ice skating, but apparently not at a secured arena.

“How much longer until we arrive?”

Seokjin hummed in thought. “A few more minutes.” He grinned mischievously and placed one hand on your thigh. “Don’t worry, babe. It’s going to be great. Trust me.” He squeezed your thigh with his large hand, sending a shiver down your spine.

“I do trust you”, you scoffed lightly, “I’m just worried that this is not an official arena.” You grabbed his hand with yours and started to play with his fingers, a habit you developed whenever you felt nervous.

“We’re here.”

Your head shot up, scanning the surroundings with wide eyes. Whatever you had expected, this wasn’t it.

A small lake stretched over the landscape in front of you. The sun rays glistened on the icy surface and the untouched snow on the fields and trees around it.

“Wow”, you exhaled, feeling almost breathless, “this is beautiful. How did you know of this place?”

Seokjin smiled and shrugged with his shoulders. “My parents took my brother and me out here every winter. It’s somewhat a family tradition.”

“And now you’re taking me with you? I feel really honoured that you thought I’m worth it to become part of your family tradition.” You leaned over the console and kissed his cheek, smiling gently. “But please take care of me out there. I haven’t been ice skating in years!”

Seokjin grabbed your chin with his thumb and index finger and turned your head to kiss you on the lips. When he broke it again he whispered against your lips. “I won’t let anything happen to you.” He kissed you once more, nearly devouring your lips. “Let’s go.”

The both of you got out of the car, the cold immediately engulfing your body. You secured the scarf around your neck and pulled your hat down again. With the cold you had to change your shoes quickly unless you’d want your fingers to turn into ice.

Once you had changed you wobbled towards the ice, seeing Seokjin already gliding gracefully over the surface. You silently watched him for a while, your mouth slightly ajar. 

Seokjin made it look like the easiest thing there is. He made twists and turns as if he never did anything else. He looked ethereal with the twinkling of the ice and the sun rays reflecting around him.

“There’s no way I’m getting on the ice now”, you mumbled, still standing right on the shore.

“Y/N! Come here! The ice is wonderful!” Seokjin yelled from the middle of the lake.

“Oh, I’m good! I think I’ll just stay here and watch you do another triple lutz or a double axel.”

Seokjin laughed loudly, holding his stomach, while he glided towards you. “I have no idea what you’re talking about”, he wheezed and grabbed your hands. “We came here so both of us would be on the ice, not just me.” He gently bribed you onto the ice, skating backwards and pulling you slowly with him until he stopped in the middle of the lake.

You wrapped your fingers tightly around his hands and pulled yourself as close to him as possible. You did not trust your own legs to hold you upright.

“Do you trust me?”

“I already told you I do.” You hissed, staring holes into your feets. 

Seokjin chuckled lightly. “Yeah, right. You did. Then relax a little, okay? You’re only going to fall when you’re so tense like this.”

You whined quietly and tightened your grip even more now. “I’m going to look like Bambi next to Viktor Nikoforov. This is horrible.”

“Hey, Y/N, look at me, come on, look at me.” Seokjin leaned slightly down to be on eye level with you. “Don’t be too harsh on yourself, okay? Instead of pushing yourself too hard, try to enjoy yourself from time to time. And guess what, now is the time to just enjoy yourself, okay?”

You sighed deeply before you started to nod. “Okay, fine. You’re right.” Another sigh escaped your lips before you started to force yourself to relax.

“Perfect! You’re doing great, love.”

“Next thing you know, I will do all the triple lutz and double axels.”

Seokjin laughed loudly and squeezed your hands. “Whatever you say, babe.”

A grin spread over your face. You couldn’t be serious or angry for long when he laughed. It definitely helped you to relax further and before you knew it, Seokjin started moving again.

He gently instructed you and watched you get more confident with every passing second. Confident enough that he decided to let go of one hand and skate next to you instead of in front of you.

For a second you wobbled again but with a reassuring squeeze you relaxed once more. “This is actually quite entertaining”, you grinned.

“It is?”

You heard the cheeky undertone in his voice and turned your head to face him. Suspicion was evident in your expression.

Seokjin quickly glided in front of you again, making you skate in a small circle. He chuckled when you squeaked and grabbed onto his shoulders. “It’s definitely entertaining with you”, he whispered into your ear.

A shiver rolled down your spine at his low voice. You felt his hands on your hips, even through your thick winter jacket. His touch sent tingles all over your body and you automatically moved your hands from his wide shoulders to his neck.

You slowly pulled him closer to you, your eyes roaming over his face - from his dark and soft eyes over his rosy cheeks to his plump lips. “Thank you for taking me here.”

Jin closed the last space between you and kissed you tenderly. His lips were warm despite the cold air and you nearly melted into the kiss again. “I wanted to start a new tradition with you.”

“A wonderful tradition.”
