Nilorn UK are a 75 year old company specialising in Fashion Branding. Originally starting out as a weave company based in Leeds, the brand now has over 2000 offices around the world with a 12 million pound turn-over, however Nilorn keep their design work based in the UK. Nilorn have worked with many big names such as Superdry, Ted Baker and Fred Perry providing them with details such as woven labels, packaging, trims, buttons, zips and shoelaces to name a few. Quoting Nilorn on their visit to Leeds College of Art:
“We make anything on the garment, but not the garment itself.”. As a company, Nilorn utilise technology well with strong social networks across twitter and instagram as well as youtube where they have posted an advertisement to showcase the diversity within their company. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPrwhkVBIfk Nilorn as a brand are always trying to push their advances into technology, an example being an advertisement that was placed in Drapers magazine to promote the video mentioned above. Using the app called ‘Aurasma’, potential customers can scan the magazine advertisement and be immediately able to watch the film which replaces the image seen in the magazine.
This study into Nilorn has shown me potenial techniques of creating fashion labels that I could include and adapt into my own work.
