SAMPLE READING USING THIS SPREAD

To demonstrate how this spread would be used in a tarot reading, I did a self reading using this spread regarding a problem I am dealing with with my team at work. This reading is written in second person because this is how I feel the cards are speaking to me in this situation.

CARD 1: Knight of Swords

The first card in the reading represents the problem. The Knight of Swords represents someone diving headfirst into something without fear. It symbolizes an ambitious person who will stop at nothing to achieve what they’re setting out to do, and will persist through whatever obstacles ahead as long as they can get where they want to be going. This card is showing up in this position because despite that being how you feel about a situation, others around you are not acting the same way. This is leading to frustration on your part. There also may be an element of a lack of planning, or others may be perceiving your mentality of diving right into things as you not having a plan.

CARD 2: Four of Coins

The second card represents how this problem came to be, whether through past actions of yours or through outside forces. The Four of Coins represents someone who has a fear of being financially unstable, or who holds a scarcity mindset. This problem has arisen because the people around you are scared about the lack of financial stability of the situation. They may be letting their fears lead their decision making, and the fear of it not being financially successful. This card also has to do with micromanaging, and so they may be trying to combat their fears by attempting to micromanage the situation, which has led to the current situation.

CARD 3: V The Hierophant

This card represents how you can prevent this in the future. You should have compassion for these people and treat them with kindness during this time and know that they mean well, even if it’s not coming out that way. Also be aware of their tendencies to let their fears and emotions guide them, and their tendency to become stuck when they’re faced with the obstacles. Although you would rather ignore the obstacles, the way the Knight of Swords says, recognize that others may not feel this way and may have a process of working through these obstacles and fears that’s different from yours.

CARD 4: Ace of Swords

This card represents how you should go about handling this situation. This card can mean a lot of things, first of which is that you’re on the verge of a breakthrough and success. Know that although this problem has come up, it is needed before you can succeed. This card can also represent looking for truth and standing up for what you believe, and trusting the feelings you have. You must figure out how to utilize your feelings, both to make yourself feel good and also to the satisfaction of others. This card represents that with all of this, you have a responsibility, and you may have to fight for what you believe and make yourself heard the same way others are, if the opportunity presents itself. Just remember that you are strong despite all of this, and that it is needed. These are the obstacles that the other sword suited card, the Knight of Swords, said that you would encounter and conquer, so know that success is around the corner whatever happens.

CARD 5: Reversed King of Wands

This card represents the benefits of solving the problem this way. The previous card gave less of action steps and more of a reassurance and encouragement, reminding you that the way you handle this is not feeling like it’s the end of the world, and knowing that things are still in your favor no matter what. The reversed king of wands builds on that, showing the benefit of viewing the situation like this. This card reversed like this can symbolize exaggerated ideas, and paired with all the other cards and in this position, it can mean that all of this will help you to understand the wild ideas getting thrown your way, and to understand why this micromanaging is happening, and when you learn to fight for your point while also utilizing your emotions to satisfy both sides, it can help you to articulate your intolerance for this behavior better and in a way that they will be more receptive to.

CARD 6: VI The Lovers and the Seven of Wands (the cards wanted to give me two cards for this position, but typically this spot would call for just one card)

The Lovers shows how you used to view the situation. You trusted the team and felt like things were going good, until this happened. This is meant to be a test of their sincerity and dedication to the cause you’re all working on together. You can see that the seven of wands shows conflict in the depiction, and it’s because the dynamic has switched from the harmony in the lovers to the conflict in the seven of wands. This card represents challenges and how you overcome them, and thay you will ultimately gain from this situation, and this will lead to overall success, which the ace of swords also mentions. Once this conflict has passed and the problem is solved, you will have gained a new and better harmony than felt before with whoever has remained. This card represents successful negotiations, but it doesn’t mean that the negotiations will necessarily be successful with everyone, but whatever happens, everyone will be stronger because of it.
