I always found it interesting that Rick had a major event with his dad that occurred when he was the same age as RJ. I wasn’t of the mindset that there’s something more to come from that down the line, but I do think within TOWL it was an intentional parallel between Rick and RJ. Because 7-year-old RJ also has a major father-related event shape him when he meets Rick at the end of the season. The story Rick told in the premiere is one where he witnessed just how much his dad would do to take care of his family. And I think it set up nicely how RJ will grow up to also recall this year of his life as one where he learned just how much his dad did and would do to protect their family, too.

Rick told Michonne that the ONLY thing he wanted for Father's Day, was a day at home where they didn't do anything, just hung out.

Sure, they'd all spent the night before wrapping the gifts they'd carefully made and picked out for him. Michonne had planned to order food from his favorite restaurant, and the kids had practiced exactly how they were going t ask him to take them on a family walk before bed.

But, the main reason Rick didn't ask for anything, is because he always feels like the best gift is just getting to wake up every morning to a life he never imagined he'd have.

Back with a new chapter, and wanted to take a second to say thank you thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has checked in on this fic. I could never abandon it, I genuinely love the way this one has been going, but have reached a level of acceptance that this one will be more of a slow going than my others.

If you've read any of my fics, you know I really don't get TOO deep into angst with these two. Michonne and Rick spent so much time apart, I really don't need to join the show writers in keeping them apart.

That being said, I do dabble quite a bit in their miscommunication (read as, lack of communication on Rick's part..), and that's what we're up against in this chapter.

I can recall the moment in S3 of TWD when Michonne first arrived at the prison fence and found Rick there, when she also found Rick after the prison collapse caused by the governor in S4, when she found out that Rick is alive after she thought the walkers ate him in S7, and when she found Rick 8 years later after the bridge in S1 episode 1 of TOWL. ✨

They are truly soulmates and they remain connected no matter where they are. ❤️

I am curious about your perspective on it. 🌸

I love this. Rick and Michonne really are soulmates who find each other every time. 🥹 And since they are truly magnets, I think even if Michonne had left that apartment and gone home, it wouldn’t have been the final time she and Rick saw each other. They’d come back together at some point, as always. Wrote out the rest below 💗:
