I was talking to @rana-temporaria about this but I’m thinking about the ghosts of Vinyamar after the host of Turgon left for Gondolin.
the stories that emerge throughout the Sindar of eastern Nevrast and of Mithrim of their kin who suddenly vanished with the Noldorin lord who made a home beneath Taras-Ness.
the grief of those left behind in the Sindarin communities in Nevrast and Hithlum and some of the Noldorin settlements, some of them might have died without answers
the place Turgon holds in these stories, a mystic hero or prophet to some and a force for unimaginable loss and change in others.
the ruins of Vinyamar itself, a chalice left on a cracked table, a scrap of fabric taken by a bird, foundation stone entwined with ivy and moss for centuries before its swallowed at last by the sea…

The ecology of Nevast, a coastal region of Western Beleriand where Turgon first made his home before Gondolin, is one of my favorites. The ecology is really fascinating to me! The combination of coastline, forests and wetlands (I adore the description of Linaewen with its outlines disappearing into the marshes), and the cliffs and highlands where Vinyamar was located.
Marshes of Nevrast; the wetlands around Lake Linaewen, the lake of birds. In The Silmarillion, the marshes were described as a marshland full of reedy, hidden pools that bled into the edges of Linaewen in the middle. Linaewen means lake of birds and the area was home to countless species of water and wading birds
The painting in the middle is by classic oil painter Erin Hanson! You can see more work in the first link!

Obviously I couldn’t go through each group or culture so please feel free to send one and I’ll tell my ideas for them! I’m going to do humans next. Feel free to request for outside of Beleriand too!
Note: trying to determine climate in Beleriand pre sun years is an endeavor for another post so this is primarily post the rising of the sun
I like to use these posts to explore a variety of short world building topics that I can then return to and elaborate on as well as working out some climate HCs
Common Symbols and Motifs in Heraldry, clothing and art part 2/?
Part one: Elves of Aman World Building Masterlist
I’m going to do the Sindar on this post though I might do the Falathrim separately and the Nandor and Avari on the later ones then go to humans! So I might increase the number of these more.
I will also probably add to this list just as I have the other one
