#never caught

Never Caught is an amazing book that shows just how eager people were to escape from slavery even when their purported owners were “relatively kind”, which further discredits the already patently ridiculous arguments of the “Lost Cause” mythology of the antebellum South.  The main sources for this book seems to be Washington’s own letters and business documents, and some interviews with Ona Judge from late in her life.  It’s a fascinating book.  You want to cheer Judge on as she works up her courage to get away.  You’re angry and stunned by the inhuman way the Washingtons thought of the people forced to work for them -- even though, they were far from the harshest slave holders of the time.  (After all, treating people like property is not something that can be done in moderation, it’s an inherently horrible thing.)  It also sheds a bit of light on an era when some parts of the US were moving towards abolition, while others were becoming more hardcore about defending their ability to treat people like cattle.  The US divided over issues of basic morality and human rights?  What a strange concept...i wish.  Ugh.  Fantastic book, though.

I am stressed that I have stress and when I think of ways to calm my stress I think back to my fourth grade counselor. She told me to breath and i just got more stressed because I hated that counselor and they made me stressed about taking about my stress. now all I think about is ways my 10 year old self wanted to murder my counselor and I feel calmer after releasing my pent up issues by thinking of ways to not get caught for murder
