Brooke Glaser - 7 Worst Mistakes Procreate Artists Make
โโ
Brooke Glaser is a digital artist who teaches art fundamentals online through her videos and classes. I adore her work, and I hope to find the time to learn more from her!
Levin gold tutorial!! this is just how i do things so it may look a bit weird :')
so first we start off with a yellow-orange kinda color, but it all depends on the type of gold! some are more orange while some are more pale or yellow
next, i clipping mask, choose a darker color (go left on the slider and down on the inside diamond) and make a bunch of lines, both thick and thin, or shade it like with the ball!!
forgot to take a pic of clipping mask for this one, but same thing except lighter! go right on the wheel and up on the diamond, and try and go in between the shading, but you can also go through the shading if you want!!
now clipping mask with multiply, select the color used for shading, and airbrush it where the shaded areas are :)
PART 2 COMING SOON
removing lineart from white background in procreate (tutorial)
i JUST figured out how to effectively do this. watch.
i wanted to polish this up. i'm gonna skip over the stuff i did to make the background white, but you just need to mess around with a few brightness and colour settings. there are tutorials out there (google something like "editing traditional sketches for social media" or something)
okay so here we have the sketch attached to the white background
create a mask layer
2. copy the base layer
3. select the mask layer
4. press paste in the "add" section
5. invert the mask layer
6. merge the mask layer and base layer
done! background removed!
I'm taking slow steps in the direction I wanna go. I still wanna learn how to draw so I can PLEASE do anime already.
I watched an 8 minute tutorial on how Krita works, and I highly recommend you watch it, too. My current drawing set up is Infinite Painter on my phone, so since I wanted to use my drawing tablet on pc, it kind of is a big change for me.
If you're like me and worried you will watch this for no reason and forget everything, do what I did:
Get a piece of paper or note cards or something to write on physically while watching the video.
2. Follow along while watching. Do NOT EVER write stuff down without checking to make sure it still works first!! I was lucky that everything in this video was still current, but software regularly changes!! God forbid a new program you're painstakingly learning eats the layout you previously understood!!
3. If you watch more than one video and find anything that clicks for you, save that to a playlist, and if there's only one or two things in there that "clicked" for you, write down the time stamps and explain to future you what you saved that for. (Bonus idea: make a short video just for you that showcases all the good things you learned will drill it into your head even more, and reduces the need for playlists and writing down time stamps. This idea isn't necessary, it's just a cool idea.)
4. Understand that if you do it like this, even if you do like me and never touch the program again for 8 months, you can look at your note cards and get back to where you need to be MUCH FASTER than if you hadn't done this.
5. This one is for when you're ready to actually move on: just start using the program in its most vanilla form. Don't find endless ways to optimize it. Don't search for new ways to do things trying to find the absolute best way to do things before you start. I want you to just start at all, please. Commit basic stuff to memory. it's a new fucking art program. You don't even know where things are, man. Please just do what you need to learn the program. The best way to learn is to just try drawing stuff. Follow drawing tutorials and see where it gets you! You are drawing to learn the program, not learning endless bells and whistles just to be able to start drawing.
You can use this method for anything you want to learn, not just learning a new digital art program! Chip away at learning something new! Don't overwhelm yourself!
Feel free to ignore this, but I am trying to get some help getting a gym membership so i can fix my muscle atrophy so I can stop being in pain while standing. If you see this and would like to contribute anything towards this, it would mean the world. Thank you.

UHHH I REALLY LIKE THE WAY YOU SHADE AND WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD MAKE A TUTORIAL ๐
Thank you so much! Iโm so happy you like my art enough to want a tutorial from me! ^^
Hereโs how I do rendering (feachuring Kris Dreemurr):
LIGHTING TUTORIAL!!!!
i did this on a piece that already has some basic shading and highlights, but this works on a piece that just has base colors too!!
just make sure you know where your light is coming from!!!
you also need to know what kind of lighting you're going for. i'm making Seadall in a sort of moonlight setting, so i'm choosing the colors based on that kind of vibe
i make it into a Multiply layer, and adjust the opacity to your liking!! mine is at 35% there
next, on a new layer, add a sort of rim light, like near the edges sort of thing, but i like to make it go to the face and other parts a little. i also like putting a little bit of rim light on the opposite side of the light source just because
then you make it into an Add layer!! as you can see, mine is at 50%, but again, adjust how you see fit
i make a new layer and use the same color that i use for the light to airbrush some more light around the places where it is :)
i make it into an Add layer, but less intense than the previous one
then, on a new layer, i use the same color i used for the big Multiply layer to add a shadow opposite of the light :D
same thing with the airbrushed Add layer, just adjust the opacity as you see fit :)
PART 2 IN REBLOGS!!!!!!!!!
EYE TUTORIAL!!!
okay we got the base color for our eye
alright, so you go down and to the side to make a darker but more saturated color
then you make this shape!!!
then you do the same thing :D
and make this kind of shape :)
you go and take a lighter color, a little desaturated, but not too much that it stands out
and you do this!!!
and add a white dot in the middle :3
now for the bottom part, i make a new later but under it
then you go the opposite way as last time!! go up and lighter :)
unfortunately i can't fit it all in one post, so part two in reblogs :D
