aaawwww Hera how can I not love you? I’ll never be convinced that there’s any animosity between Hera and Athena. Their differences are based on valid reasons, but ultimately, I see their relationship as that of a mother and daughter.

I wonder if McLeod would use the story in Lucian’s dialogues were it’s the nereids rather than Poseidon who rescue Danaë and baby Perseus, since she wants to over villainize Poseidon so bad she’d rewrite or ignore every good myth about him. But she probably won’t bc that would actually add flavor to the story and add depth and autonomy to the nereids lol

I love this but also what is going on in the Dionysica??? 😭
I’ve read enough fanfiction to realize there’s a tendency to erase the Nereids from Poseidon’s life. It’s strange, I think of Bacchylides and Euripides, and how Poseidon literally sends a sea monster to Ethiopia to devour the daughter of the queen who dared to insult his wife and sisters-in-law, and I also think of all the ancient artistic depictions that show Nereids with Poseidon.
