What arthropod groups do you classify neopterans (monhun class) as?
The descriptions for the answers would be too long to fit on a 12 answer poll so you’ll have to comment your answer on this one, sorry.
The video game series Monster Hunter was what fist ignited my passion for creature design. With the release of the latest game in the franchise, Monster Hunter Wilds, I wanted to try my hand at designing a monster of each current type of the game. There's a lot more thought that goes into designing these monsters (environment, ecology, how they function, etc) but it's fun the get the concepts down. I'll start at the top left.
First is an elder dragon (generally the strongest monster type) that can inflict every non-elemental status on its targets (sleep, poison, paralysis, blast, and stun). Next is a snake wyvern whose entire body is covered in razor sharp scales that inflict bleed status on its before spitting poison at them (think spitting cobra). Next is a cephalopod (the newest monster type) that generates powerful electrical charges through it's tentacles. Next is a Neopteran (insect monster) that consumes so much flesh that body overflows with dragon element (a life energy all living things in the MH poses small traces of). Next is a Spinosaurus-like brute wyvern (dinosaur-like monsters) that produces excessive liquids to fire at its enemies and soak its surroundings for better terrain advantage. Next is a flying wyvern inspired by alligator snapping turtles that can extend its next to deliver devastating bites from a distance and retreat into it's shell for extra defense. Next is a mantis shrimp inspired carapaceon (crab monster) that like another monster in the series, Brachydios, weaponizes an explosive slime mold that grows on its tough shells. Next is a mammoth-like fanged beast that posses several electricity generating organs on its body and can fire a devastating electrical attack through it's trunk. Next is a leviathan that produces excessive amounts of slime to incapacitate its victims before draining their blood. Next is a piscine wyvern that, unlike others of its type, is capable of powered flight and stuns prey with powerful sonic blasts from its mouth. Next is a flightless bird wyvern that slides around on icy surfaces and covers itself in ice armor when enraged. Next is an herbivorous fanged wyvern (mammal-like reptiles) that inflicts paralysis though the various spikes on its body. Next is an amphibian that spits up and flings poison at would be attackers. Lastly is a temnoceran (spider monster) that uses its silk covered legs to stay aloft in the air while it weaponizes random objects in its immediate environment.
I might refine these concepts more if I have the time.
Monster Hunter belongs to Capcom.
As always, comments and critiques are welcome.
I'm trying to upload more regularly so here's some monster gijinkas I did back in Autumn 2019. I enjoy designing humanisations of monsters cause you can explore some cool concepts, so expect to see more in the future hopefully! These are just rough doodles so I tried to spruce them up a bit with colour swatches, the renders and icons.
None of them have names though... whoops. I've just been giving them nicknames based on the name of the monsters so they're temporary. Out of all the characters, the Stras are the only ones that have any development haha. Teo and Luna (actual names still pending) are royal twins and are the only surviving members of their family. And that's all I got 😅

My entry for an armor redesign challenge on the monster hunter amino and the first of the armors for my original monsters. This took a while but I couldn't be happier how it came out plus it gave me a little more confidence in drawing people.
I kinda wanna do a palico armor for this one before I move on to the next.
(Top right is the actual monster for reference)

MonHun title muse
Putting some pondering out for if some Frontier/ Online monsties got into Wilds, since with Espinas in Sunbreak and Estrellian in Outlanders, there seems to be more intrigue to mainline adds.
Just a flurry of some quick sketches I did based on some concepts I mused on. The roster of Wilds is appreciable, but I do feel there could've been more done to expand on less represented classes. So to sum up 1. Rompopolo as a neopteran 2. Ajarakan as a carapaceon 3. Large monster Rafma 4. Uth Duna as an amphibian 5. Large monster Comaqchi 6. Large monster Bulaqchi And some bios for the interpretations of those small monsters as big ones,
And to finish the muse, gosh I do wish one or more of Balahara, Hirabami or Jin Dahaad could've been snake wyverns, especially the former two already have very serpentine animations and the latter's habit of seemingly coiling around the Cliffs, plus all three having distinct extendable lower jaws.
There's still plentiful opportunities to expand on the behaviour of monsties, whether greater willingness to help each other, sabotage each other, or empower each other. I think one major takeaway is how the Raths are much cooperative in the East. You can often see two Rathalos / Rathian working together, sometimes with a third or even fourth Rath on the map, and frankly given how a single Rathalos can contest several other apex predators, imagine the ease he could take over if those others were present and joined in his battles.
