My Art and Ideas

Taking a little break from The Wizard Princess I wanted to draw some characters that popped into my head for another story idea I made; Clarketech. To refresh, it revolves around the idea that sufficiently advanced technology is achieved through magic with most of said magic provided by the ruling families within that universe. I've already drawn my main trio (a princess, her bodyguard, and her golem caretaker) as well as the aliens that exist within that universe. However, I ended up imaging two other character trios that parallel the main one and also go on their own journeys. Though all of them can use magic each of them tend to specialized in specific techniques which I'll explain when I get to said characters.

I don't have official names for them yet so I have some place holders. For example, the top row characters are currently Yuma and Makena who are in an recently arranged marriage. Mekena I imagined for a long time as a childhood friend of the main princess character. A princess herself, she has an outgoing personality and a tendency to delve into gossip, especially when aliens are involved having a particular with them fascination with them. Though Mekena is very receptive of her marriage to Yuma, Yuma himself is more uncertain of the situation though he does like Mekena herself. Yuma is the son of a powerful chief and a natural warrior even though he's more quiet and reserved most of the time. He's accompanied by a golem fashioned after an eagle and has a strong bond with. Yuma's specializes in creating impenetrable force fields while Mekena can manipulate matter.

The bottom row are a prince and princess who are twin siblings. Among the younger royals, the twins have always been close and do virtually everything together. They're courtly in public, goofballish in private, and incredibly fierce in combat. The brother can sever objects at a molecular level, channeling his magic through his dual blades. The sister, on the other hand, can manipulate the elements (like the Avatar) primarily fighting with her legs. Combat wise, the biggest inspiration for these two are Zoro and Sanji from One Piece. The twins were give a golem resembling a manticore that acts as their personal guardian.

I hope to flush these characters out a little better if I end up using them though I might focus on the main trio and the aliens first. These days I just create what feel like at the moment.

Changing things up a bit and made something genie related. This time it features characters from probably my favorite Glitch pilots thus far: Gameoverse. Everything from the premise, the world building, to the characters themselves has me hooked and hoping for the series to be green lit.

Anyway, Since the series involves entering various video game worlds, I have the protagonists Kit and Kaboodle (on the left) along with antagonists Miss Information and Fold (on the right) enter one such world that's a mix of Metal Slug and Street Fighter. In it, Kit and Miss Information become genies that provide magic blasts and punching damage while Kaboodle and Fold become their vessels that provide mobility. I probably could have included more in the background though I wanted to finish this before I went on a week vacation.

My latest polls have concluded and though I didn't get as many votes as previous ones the results are definitive. Here's the collective winner:

What surprised me about this round of polls was the difference in preference for the Deviantart Poll and the Tumblr poll. The Deviantart voters largely preferred the design shown here whereas the Tumblr voters mostly preferred option D which I'll share bellow:

Either design would have worked for what the Demon does in the story but as stated the cumulative results are definitive.

I thought I was done with design variants for Wizard Princess characters but then I remembered the demon I created for that story. Though I quite like what I came up with I wanted to experiment with other designs. Design A is the original. Design B is a flaming skeletal design that's actually been in my head for years but didn't have a good reason to draw till now. Design C is based on the typical depiction of a demon though it also resembles a manticore when all on all fours. Design D is a more shadowy, chaotic design covered with eyes. That design was rushed but helped with the intended chaotic appearance.

Like usual I'll let the polls on Tumblr, Deviantart, and Facebook run for a week.

Happy 4th of July!!! I was actually able to finish a Celeste the Witch art piece in time for it. Keeping with her personal tradition, she dresses up for the occasion while turning her best Collen into an animal, this time a bald eagle which he doesn't seem to mind for once. I would have like to have done better with the fireworks but I had limited to work on them. I hope you all still enjoy it.

I wanted to finish this in time for Father's Day but it didn't work out and just now had the chance to post this. This is my OC Celeste the Witch putting on a magic show with her father. A half human and half genie (another OC Grant Amiya is from his side of the family), Celeste's father is a professional magician whom Celeste inherited both her magical abilities and cheerful, fun loving personality from.

It took a bit to figure out this piece's composition. I even initially had Celeste in a magician outfit similar to her father. Though a bit messy with the magic effects, I feel like the end results best showcases how Celeste has her own identity while still being very similar to her father and enjoys spending time with him.

I'm already working on a 4th of July art piece so hopefully I'll finish that one in time.

The tiebreaker polls for Elisaria's outfit has concluded. They oddly got more engagement than the previous one, even from Facebook. Anyway, the cumulative results from Tumblr, Deviantart, and Facebook where definite.

I'm honestly glad this design won. As the amalgamation design it incorporates what I liked best from the other design variants and is also how I most envision Elisaria in key scenes. I'm also glad that these character design polls allow my watchers/followers to participate in the creative process of these characters.

The last main Wizard Princess characters I haven't made variants of yet are the Hildas (the twin witches Elisaria reluctantly takes in as her apprentices) though I kinda like designs I came up for them. I'll share an image of them again and you can all comment if you like to see design variants of these two to vote on.

Setting up a tie breaking poll for the two outfit finalist designs. Though the original design got a late additional vote from Deviantart I decided to exclude it as the vote was cast well after the first Tumblr poll timed out and it would be unfair to the Tumblr votes. Like usual, the poll will last for a week and will run on Tumblr, Deviantart, and Facebook.

The Tumblr and Deviantart polls concluded and the cumulative results are another tie.

I'm surprised the hooded version got as many votes as it did though both do look neat IMO. I'll set up a tie breaking poll within a day or so.

Edit: a very last minute vote on Deviantart came in for the original design which would have tied it with the previous two designs shown here. However, since it came in late I don't think I will include it in the tie breaker poll. Comment if you think I should include it or not. Here's the original design for context.

Finished another set of creatures for my Alpha Centauri moon speculative biology project. This group is called the Tripods. They are highly social three-legged mammalians who are generally herbivores with a few exceptions. Though three legs are generally riskier, the tripods composite for this by evolving a healing factor comparable to earth Axolotls and living in large social groups that can look out/care for one another. This is coupled by living on a lower gravity world where fall damage isn't as devastating. Here's a rundown of the species shown.

The top middle is a pig-like foraging omnivore that inhabits forest with males sporting large tusks for display and defense. Top right is a muskox-like arctic species that evolved layered head plates that can give devastating blows when powered by the full force of their hind leg. Right below the forager is one of the few examples of a predatory Tripod. Their long legs and dexterous digits allows them to traverse almost any terrain in pursuit of prey. The middle right is a horse-like running and on of the most common herbivores in the moon's open plains. Their shaggy coats and active lifestyle helps keep them warm even during the moon's coldest periods. At the very right is a tall giraffe-like herbivore. Inhabiting between the forests and plains that also sport tusks like their forager relatives and used for the same purposes. Near the bottom is an aquatic hippo-like herbivore that inhabits fresh to brackish waters and keep themselves warm through their layers of blubber and huddling in large groups. Lastly, at the bottom right, is a small herbivore that most resembles the ancestors of the Tripod group. Most resembling Earth's hyraxes, there are several species that range from ground dwelling to arboreal.

I need to brainstorm more ideas for this, particularly invertebrates and plants.

Having Elisaria's new face picked out, I created some outfit variants to go with it. A is the original outfit which was the idea of her draping the wizard robes she found over her princess dress. B is a more complex outfit with extra articles of clothing and equipment. C experiments with a simpler design. D replaces the wizard hat with a hood. E is another attempt at a simpler design. Lastly, F is a composite of the previous 5 designs.

The poll will run for a week in tandem with Deviantart and Facebook. Feel free to suggest outfit changes if you want.

The polls for the tie breaking Knight designs have concluded. It was actually an even split on Deviantart but fortunately the Tumblr poll was definitive. Cumulated, this is the winning design.

Since the last cumulative poll results were a tie, I set up a tie breaking poll for the finalists. This also allowed me to refine these designs a little more. Like usual, this poll along with the Deviantart & Facebook polls will run for a week.

What started as an original character design for MerMay became an episode concept for Celeste the Witch. Here's the summary I formulated: Local mermaid barista Marie, who is normally very cool and collected, becomes on edge when out of nowhere another mermaid comes to town. Fueled by a strong distrust of other mermaids (including Jengus like herself) and the knowledge that they never go onto land unless there's some ulterior motive, Marie begins spying the beautiful yet strange mermaid. Celeste tags along both to spend time with Marie outside of her coffee shop and to try to understand what Marie's deal is.

I would have liked to have made a better background for this piece but I wanted to finish this before the month ended with the limited free time I had and backgrounds are one of those things that are harder for me (still good practice though).

My latest design variant poll concluded and for the first time the cumulative results produced a tie. With the 11 votes from Deviantart and 36 from Tumblr, here are the dueling winners.

Though I liked the helmet of the original design I can work with either of these two. I'll clean and refine both of them a bit before I set up a tie breaker poll.

Though I said I would complete a MerMay piece first, I figured I would get the next design poll set up as I already got the designs completed. To recap this Wizard Princess character, this is a mysterious Knight who wields a magic sword and often best opponents in unconventional ways. Option A is the original design, B & C are inspired by other Punkey Doodles shorts, and D is a composite of the first three.
