Might as well use this as a preview since I have no idea when TITM can post. Every time I think I’m close to finishing, there’s another scene that needs to be written, and life and work keep getting in the way. We’re in the endgame, but man did this turn out to be a monster fic. I’m at 16, 732 words for part 2, and I have at least three more scenes to write and another couple more to finish. I would not be surprised if the last installment was between 25,000-30,000 words. For comparison sake guys, it usually takes me at least a month or two just to finish a 4,000 word chapter, so writing one that’s about 6-7x longer is gonna take more time, even with the quarantine. It’s coming, I promise. It’s just taking FOREVER.

But in the meantime, here’s a preview for TITM Part 2 (a longer one for my faithful and patient readers):

Lane only lives a few minutes away, but Rory takes her time heading back home, her steps slow. Her grandmother’s words keep repeating in her mind.

She’s pregnant. Quite the scandal too. I heard it from Biddy, who heard it from Tilly, but called Shira to confirm, and also to gloat. She never did think you were good enough for her son. My how the tables have turned.

What do you mean you’re not together? You’re posting photos on that silly Facegram all the time.

Then why is he there?

And you don’t find the timing of all of this strange?

No, she does.

She does.

Her thoughts are swirling around her now like a storm that’s ready to strike on land. Odette’s pregnant. That’s surprising, but not unexpected. Talk of divorce. That’s truly surprising. Odette had cheated? But Rory couldn’t say that she knew the woman well enough to know if that was in her character. But the most surprising was the familiarity of the situation. Her brain drawing parallels to the end of junior year with her dad and Sherry. How he had shown up at Sookie’s wedding, with promises that things would be different. That he and Lorelai would work everything out. And then the bombshell.

She had been saying for years that Logan wasn’t like Christopher, so much that it’s like a broken record. He’s not Christopher. But this feels like something he would do.

Girlfriend pregnant. Relationship in shambles. Come back to the ex and child with promises of a fresh new start. Only Christopher had chosen Sherry, trying to do the right thing. What was Logan trying to do?

She climbs the steps of her porch with laden feet.

Then why is he there?

A valid question. One she had been too afraid to ask. It’s been months and he’s still here. Why is he still here?

And you don’t find the timing of all of this strange?

Only comes back when things between himself and Odette were rocky....

And when things were finally coming around for her and Jess.

Cold. Numb.

She opens the door and sees Logan lying on the couch, remote in his hand, flipping through channels on the tv. He turns when he hears the door. “Hey Ace. I was wondering when you’d get back. You hungry?”

That voice, so carefree and sauve. Can talk her into doing anything.

“Rory?”

She looks him in the eye, icy blues staring back into startled browns, and finally asks him what she should have from the beginning. “Why are you here?”

Aw! Thanks so much!

It’s slowly coming to the end. I hate that it’s taken this long, as I wanted to start focusing on some of my other fics. But it’s turned out to be so much bigger than I originally thought, so much so that I might need to divide part two into part two and three. (We’ll see when it’s all done.)

However, we are close to the end. I just need to finish these last two scenes, and I think I’m done, so I’m praying for a finish date by next week.

Girl!!! All the pain would have been avoided if they had just spoken to one another! In this particular case, you’re absolutely right that all Rory had to do was tell Jess that Logan wanted some private time with Emmy. But Rory definitely shies away from confrontational situations and she has never really been able to communicate properly about her feelings when she’s flustered. And Logan’s sudden appearance in her life with his demands definitely flustered her. It’s just a case of “when your heart’s involved, it all comes out in moron.”
