my personal favorite naruto headcanon is that his favourite color is red, but it never shows to anyone because he feels like it will expose too much about him.
cue one day when sasuke overhears a conversation between ino and naruto at a party, where he learns that his dumbass's favourite color is red. because if that was the case why the FUCK does he wear that hideous orange everywhere he goes. it hurts sasuke's eyes and pride to be found near such a color.
naruto sounds flustered and is anxiously looking around after sharing this piece of information, with ino looking confused and suddenly realizing what was happening. the smug look of 'i know what you are' was something naruto experienced for the second time now (thank you iruka for the first) and he felt just as shy as before.
sasuke was now suspicious - what is going on with the favourite colour? yeah sure it is red, but he can't for the life of him recall naruto ever being surrounded by red. wait. the uzumaki's had red hair. so its about his mother.
but his reaction is not what one would expect from sharing that they like their cultural heritage.
cue sasuke slowly slipping in red things for naruto to have, because he thinks that the blonde is too embarrassed to change things so late in the game. and naruto losing his mind because he thinks sasuke KNOWS and is now teasing him relentlessly.

This post will contain information about the plot of the CD drama Yours for an Hour and some of my own ideas for those struggling to find inspiration for the contest. Feel free to use any of the ideas on my list and to contact me @izzyisozaki if you need a beta reader (though I will probably only have time to see your work once itās finished).
Yours for an Hour
Meeting at the amusement park and dates. As explained by this post, the CD drama may or may not come with tokuten depending on where you get it. One of these contains an extra scene set at an amusement park, to which there is a translation here. How would you turn their casual encounter into something that seems like a date?
Domestic life. The other tokuten described by the poster has phrases in English and Japanese that sound very mundane, like āGood morningā and āGoodnight.ā I donāt know about you but thatās already giving me certain ideas. I can imagine them finding it difficult to part from each other, or having a āmorning afterā scene.
Reincarnation and crossover with NARUTO. So we know that Aki Tsukikage is 26-year-old entrepreneur who runs a number of companies, while Haru Hinomoto is 21-year-old who volunteers (?) as a handyman. In the script preview we can see the former has earned the nickname of "ice princeā while latter is described asĀ āa ball of sunshine.ā One is quiet and the other never seems to shut up. Being adults in the modern world however, their first encounter goes very differently than in the manga. You could see them as Naruto and Sasukeās latest reincarnations. In this life, Naruto (Haru) is still an orphan, who despite facing adversity,Ā āremains bright and positiveā; instead Sasuke (Aki), is an āuncommunicative and distantā person that does not show himself to others, but āhidden beneath, has a fragile sensitive heart.ā How do they relate? Combining their past life with the present is also a fun idea.
Aesthetics and the fanfiction the drama is based on. This can be pretty useful if youāre an artist and like using written material to inspire your work. You could even write your own spin-off if it left you aching for more, or create an aesthetic for the characters! I personally like the idea of finding stock images that match with oneās vision of the story and characters (see this example). Just remember to keep a note of your references, so we can credit them.
Their names. The Chinese character of Akiās name (āautumnā) is constituted by the radicals grain + fire. This is because the Ancient Chinese burned the fields to kill the locust eggs in autumn [x]. The Chinese character of Haruās name (āspringā) is constituted by sun/day and the remnant conglomerate consisting of the character for āplantsā and the phonetic character meaning āsproutā [x]. So knowing that Aki references fire, and Haru references plants, we can play with the idea of how āfireā can protect āplantsā from calamity. Itās also somewhat fitting in reference to the manga considering that Narutoās hobby is watering plants and Sasukeās chakra has affinity towards the fire nature, which is strong against wind, but weak towards water. (Of course there is also the āWill of Fire,ā but thatās more of a spiritual legacy set in contrast with the āCurse of Hatred.ā)
N ā¢ S in relation to the spring and autumn seasons
Okay, so this one is pretty tricky, but what Iāve learned is that you can just really go with your instinct on this one. The aspects of spring and autumn are highly representive, and knowing that they can easily become symbolic of how the characters feel, especially in writing. Letās pretend Sasuke came back from a mission at the end of summer, only to find that Naruto was not there. The more time goes on, the more nature reflects how Sasuke feels. Only when Naruto comes back is it finally spring (both metaphorically and literally, lol).
Now if we think of some of the things that have to do with these seasons, we can also see if they have any other meanings in the manga, like say āleaves.ā Here we already have numerous examples: ādancing leavesā refers to Konoha and its people, āa new leafā refers to Naruto in Chapter 137, where the leaves (villagers) are connected to the light, or shadow of fire (hokage) illuminating the village (where the leaves dance and the fire burns). Whichever season we choose, we can find various references in the manga. Just brainstorming like this can give you an idea; I for example just thought of how Naruto could be like a new leaf in spring, while Sasuke a dry, broken leaf in autumn.
When it comes to drawing, things get a lot easier, especially since the Japanese use a lot of seasonal imagery in their art. But what about the language? Letās see an example:

Due to all the meanings āspringā can take in Japanese, we know that we can use some of them as legitimate references if weāre clever enough. If we decided to write a story thatās set during the period of the New Year (which is traditionally in spring) we could associate Naruto (spring) with a number of elements that contrast him with Sasuke (autumn). Spring, as we know, is the season where growth begins, and by being with Naruto, Sasuke grows as a person, so the seasons can symbolize this transition. In autumn leaves fall, but they do this to survive harsh weather conditions, so Sasuke needs to learn that he can live again. All in all it references both spring and autumn very nicely, using elements from Japanese culture.

AU where Naruto is dancing in the elevator only for the doors to open on an unexpected floor where someone catches him dancing.
The music is blaring, head phone sitting comfortably on Narutoās head. The outside world is drown out. The nerves sitting in Narutoās stomach pushed aside as he hums the tune, head bobbing as he hops out of the bus.
Ā The short walk down the street is done with a little hop to his step, smile tugging up his lips.
Ā The distraction is rather short lived when he finally stands in front of the tall building. Blue eyes shift to follow the skyscraper to unbelievable heights. With a shake of his head, he turns the volume up and steps into the tall building. He wasnāt going to let the skyscraper intimidate him, even if it has the name of one of the biggest companies in the area across the top.
Ā The music is paused to ask the person working the front desk which floor heās supposed to be going too. Itās right back on after that, lips pressed together so he can hum the song, head bobbing once again.
Ā Thereās a little sway of his hips as he steps into the elevator, noting the lack of people inside. Actually, there werenāt many people around. It was odd, but Naruto doesnāt dwell on the thought as the elevator doors close and he presses the button to get to the 26th floor.
Ā Once the ding sounds, Narutoās hum turns into a muttering of words, body moving to dance along with the beat. He can feel the nerves leaving his body as he dances around the elevator a bit, music loud and smile pulling up his lips.
Ā The only problem is that Naruto seems to forget that the elevator can stop to pick people up on the way to his floor. Thatās exactly what it does too.
Ā The ding is missed as the doors slide open. Narutoās spinning to the beat when he sees the person standing in front of him. Blue eyes go wide, searching to figure out what floor heās on. Itās only the 11th floor, which means he canāt get off just yet. He has to ride the elevator up with this man.
Ā The male is simply standing there, a slender eyebrow raised. Naruto clears his throat, blue eyes shifting to look away from the male. He figures the best option is to just pretend that didnāt happen.
Ā Thereās an awkward silence that settles between them, Naruto shifting his weight from one foot to the other. The music has been turned down to a reasonable volume, one that will allow him to hear the ding if the door opens again.
Ā Naruto doesnāt question the other when he gets off on the same floor as Naruto, walking right past the receptionist desk. The headphones are stuffed into his pocket and a nervous smile pulls his lips up. He asks the receptionist where heās supposed to go and she directs him to the proper office, a kind smile pulling up her lips.
Ā Once Narutoās standing in front of the proper door, he takes in a deep breath, trying to calm himself down before he knocks on the door. He has wait a few nerve raking seconds for the okay to go inside.
Ā The only problem is that he finds a pair of familiar dark eyes meeting his own blue.
Ā Narutoās mouth falls open, noting the smirk that pulls up the otherās lips. This couldnāt be happening. Heās done some pretty embarrassing stuff in the past, but dancing in the elevator in front of your possible future boss has got to be the top of the list.
Ā āI hope you donāt plan on dancing your way through your interview.ā
Ā Itās takes a moment for the words to process before blue eyes are narrowing. āBastard,ā he mutters under his breath, walking around the seat so he can sit himself down. āIām going to rock your world with this damn interview.ā
Ā The reply is a challenging look and the first question. Ā
