I thought I'd pose this question to my fellow RokuNami fans: do you think Roxas and Naminé saying they could be together whenever Sora and Kairi were and gazing at one another during the ending scene in KH2 made them canon?
I was having a discussion with two other RokuNami shippers online today and one said the ship was already canon thanks to these aforementioned scenes. They were surprised I didn't think the same, stating that they thought those parts in the ending made it pretty straightforward and obvious.
Of course, it has already been heavily implied that they have mutual feelings for one another and are aware of the romantic connection they share. However, whether they have outright professed or demonstrated their love for each other and made the ship undoubtedly canon in doing so is up for debate.
I'd like to hear what you think. I reckon they're not official yet and that the pairing needs something which indisputably shows they're canon. Naturally, I'd love to be proven wrong.

When Sora was looking at the White Room, the image of him momentarily flashed to Roxas.
Sora has told Naminé that Roxas does miss her too.
Even though it might not be the romantic ship that I hoped for, at the very least, acknowledge that these two are friends and not non-existent as I believe some people claim them to be.

In a similar vein to your writing experience, this took a lot longer than I had thought it would. Partly because I wanted to see if any more ideas sparked, and partly because I had a lot of things suddenly going on. But I think this is fine as it is. Like I said, perhaps a bit less original, but still very much written by me. For better or worse.
Roxas felt utterly betrayed by the world. By everyone.
He had been brought into this world, for the sole purpose of being used by the Organization.
That was not 100% true, of course. He had always existed to some degree within Sora's heart. But he had not /known/ that he existed. And that was the difference.
And what was even more infuriating. The thing that made his supposedly non-existant heart pound with boiling blood until it seemed like it would explode: they had taken his memories of the two people who mattered in his life from him. They had ripped them out, like a useless page of notes. And only now. Now that he stood before Sora, were they returning to him. His jaw worked and he just stood there, trembling.
"What gives you the right?" He growled under his breath. "To make me into a puppet?" Summoning his rage, his desperation, his sorrow, and finally his weapons, he slashed viciously at the robed man that he knew was laughing at him. "I...hate you so much." He spat out bitterly, turning to face the projection of his captor and the container that currently housed Roxas' prison.
"You should share some of that hatred with Sora." Was the infuriating rebuttal.
"Why....why do I owe him anything?!" Roxas wanted to shout out. He knew why. He didn't care. He was about to tell DiZ just that. That he didn't care about anything at this point and would rather just kill Sora than go back to him but...
He felt a phantom touch on his shoulder. Turning slightly, he couldn't see anyone out of the corner of his eye, but he knew that charming chuckle, though it had been too long since he'd heard it.
The fight drained out of him. She...wouldn't agree with what his body and mind were screaming for him to do. And she was far more important that he was, than he ever had been. Turning to face his doom, he knew that putting the keyblade anywhere remotely close to the pod would open it. He also knew that he wouldn't be let out of here until he did.
"Come over here." The puppetmaster said, mockingly merry. Roxas played his part dutifully.
As the keyblade fell to the ground and disappeared into the light with Roxas, his last concious thought was. "I'll find you again, Namine. No matter what. Like we promised."
---------------------------
"You know, I think we found the answer." Roxas remarked to Namine, as they watched their counterparts brave the menace of The World That Never Was. "The answer? To what?" Namine asked, her hand gently wrapped around Roxas'. With a small, though grim smile, Roxas turned and pulled her against her chest. "The answer to where we would go, you know, if we just up and left." He gently ran his fingers through her hair.
"Mm. Not quite what we had in mind, huh?" Namine noted in response, resting her head against the soft cotton material of his shirt, not a trace of the dark leather remained. "But, it's not terrible, is it?" She turned her head up to look into his eyes, quirking an eyebrow.
"Nah." He agreed, his forehead meeting hers. "It isn't terrible." The tender moment passed too soon, and he looked towards where he knew Xemnas and the rest of the remaining Organization awaited Sora. Reflecting on how much things had changed over the past couple weeks, memories flooded his mind and his hand clamped around Namine's shoulder. A sharp intake of breath and a wince from her brought him back to his senses.
"I miss existing." He whispered, turning away from Namine. "I miss Axel. I miss...the chance to make more friends." His arms fell to his sides and he closed his eyes, fighting against the moisture that fought to escape as he stood rooted to the ground, trapped in the spiral of his thoughts. "I...."
Namine wrapped her arms around his chest and squeezed. "I know." Her throat was tense with emotion, but her voice was still gentle. "What can we do though?" The corner of her mouth flicked up, "Any good ideas come to mind?"
Shaking his head Roxas returned his arms to around Namine. "A few, maybe. None of them good." He sought to match her tone, her touch bringing him back to reality as it always seemed to. "For now though, I think...we'll just wait and watch."
And the two former nobodies stood like that for sometime, content to just have each other, after what seemed like an eternity of separation.
