Oh, that was faster than expected. I thought with your continued need of repairs that the connection would take longer, Medoh. Good job.
Ahem.
This is the Rito Champion Revali, Master of the Winds, Hero of the Rito people - establishing connection between Divine Beast Vah Medoh and Divine Beast Vah Naboris; test one.
Greetings, Naboris. Is Urbosa on board? If not, no matter. I am merely running some tests as part of Medoh's repairs. Can you hear me clearly?
CONNECTING...
CONNECTION WITH [Divine Beast Vah Medoh] SUCCESSFUL
Greeting Rito Champion Revali, Master of the Winds, Hero of the Rito people. It does appear that the name you gave me does not match the name I currently have in my database. I will add that new title.

Summary: When Ganondorf returns during Hyrule Warriors, he’s on a mission to make things right, though what that means is beyond everyone around him. Kidnapping the Hero of Hyrule and telling him he’s protecting him from the Queen is not what anyone expected, and nobody can quite figure out what his ultimate goal is. Link sure is confused, though, and… starting to realize there’s more to Ganondorf than just being a monster.

Chapter 6: Plans
There was a certain level of comfort in falling back into wartime routines. Zelda wasn’t really sure what to make of that, but at least it gave her a semblance of control. The familiarity was something she could work with. Wearing her armor was more comfortable now than wearing a court dress, and it made her feel like she was accomplishing something, which was more than she could say for everyone else.
The reports from the desert were not very promising, nor very helpful. Proxi had mentioned that Gerudo attacked, and the few survivors from Link’s army confirmed her words. Ghirahim’s return, the poison of dark magic steadily spreading across the land, it all led to the conclusion that Ganondorf, the demon king himself who had been held at bay for millennia, was back due to Zelda’s own mistakes. But she had come to terms with this already, as much as she hated herself for it, so what she really needed was valuable information.
Such as figuring out where in the world the enemy even was.
There seemed to be no one point where the gloom was spreading, it was just everywhere. It certainly seemed more concentrated closer to the desert, but it was also springing forth around the Temple of the Sacred Sword, as well as the Valley of Seers. All Zelda truly knew was that her dear friend was in Ganondorf’s clutches, and the one thing potentially keeping him alive was the fact that Zelda still possessed the Triforce of Wisdom.
But Ganondorf now had two pieces of the sacred artifact. Was there really anything stopping him from keeping Link alive? She had to find him quickly, and she had no way to do so!
Zelda had too many crises to handle at once, and it felt like she didn’t have the resources for it. Her army had only just returned to the castle, only to be quickly sent out once more, leaving the capital sparsely defended. She couldn’t just leave the rest of Hyrule unprotected… but she was coming up with a way to help.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” General Impa asked as the pair marched towards the library. “It’s said that this technology is dangerous, that it was stored away for a reason.”
“It was stored away because my ancestor thought the Sheikah were dangerous,” Zelda noted.
“I am aware,” the general replied, a heaviness in her voice that she didn’t usually use on the newly crowned queen. “My people sing songs of mourning of those times.”
Zelda swallowed, suddenly feeling a little guilty about bringing it up. That era of Hyrule’s history was a dark one, a blight on the royal family, though the daughter of the foolish king healed the wounds he’d created. But this was necessary – she wasn’t really sure why Impa was so hesitant about it. “We have to use it. This is literally what it’s designed for. Were it not for the fact that we were so heavily decentralized during the war, I would have used it against Cia.”
Impa huffed, smiling a little as she looked ahead. “That would have been interesting.”
Biting her lip, the queen walked onward, opening the door to the library. She hadn’t been in here since before the war, and the damage made her breath stutter a bit. The far end of the library was collapsed, with fallen bookshelves burying broken tables and chairs. The books themselves had been collected into piles, but many were falling apart or in pieces. She prayed the ones she needed were not among those that were lost.
But then she sighed as the mountains of books loomed in front of her, the heaviness in her heart temporarily forgotten in lieu of something else.
Even with the damage, there were so many books.
Ugh. Zelda wasn’t opposed to reading, but there were thousands of books here, and with the disaster this place was in, there was no one here to categorize anything.
Impa smiled a little sympathetically, patting her back, sensing her growing disillusionment with this idea, despite how motivated she’d been a moment ago. “I have faith you will find the answers you seek. I will work on getting updates from the search parties.”
“Don’t the Sheikah have manuscripts on your ancient technology?” Zelda asked hopefully, desperate to find an easier way to do this.
“We destroyed all connection to those days,” General Impa answered. “I’m afraid all that remains is from your namesake.”
Yes, Queen Zelda the Healer. Less commonly known as Sheik, and the inspiration for Zelda’s own disguise to hide from her failures that started the war.
Bitterness choked her for a moment, and she clenched her fists. She supposed she hadn’t stopped failing, apparently. But now wasn’t the time to stew in it – Link needed her help, Hyrule needed her help, and now that she was back in the castle she could better utilize everything her kingdom had to offer.
She just desperately wished she had more information. If she at least had a lead as to where Ganondorf might be, she’d go take the army herself while leaving someone else to search the library. But she couldn’t sit around just waiting.
Sighing, she grabbed her resolve and stepped ahead. “You can get updates from the search parties when I speak with the council. In the meantime, I’ll take the right side if you take the left, general.”
Impa looked a little reluctant as she observed the multiple floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. “We should probably get some extra help in here.”
Zelda wished some of the friends they’d made during the war were still here, but they were all back in their own times. Most of her other friends she’d made had died in the war, or returned to their duties elsewhere. Everyone had spread to the four winds, and she suddenly felt so very alone.
She was thankful she still had General Impa, at least. But she supposed the woman was right – they needed help. “W-well. Yes. I… why don’t you grab some servants to help us look through this?”
Impa nodded, stepping away, and Zelda felt very overwhelmed surrounded by these books. But they wouldn’t search themselves, and so she started to grab one, glancing at the title.
Guidebook of Zora’s Domain.
Well, that was hardly helpful. Zelda did find herself a little curious, though – Zora’s Domain was extremely isolated from Hyrule nowadays, but in the ancient past they used to have a better working relationship with Hyrule. Supposedly, at one point, they were part of the kingdom. She wondered how old this guide was.
She opened the book a moment and then remembered that she did not have time for this. Groaning, she tossed it aside and grabbed the next one.
The Barbarian’s Flower: A Compendium to Flora in the Barbaric Tribal Lands.
Nope. Next book.
Tales of the Dragon Lovers – Ancient Mythology of the Zonai.
Zelda flopped backwards onto the floor, letting the book fall out of her hands. Good grief this was going to take forever.
Hang in there, Link. Please.
XXX
“Okay, but did anyone expect the Hero of Hyrule to be so cute? His face is like porcelain, how is that even possible?”
“Gross, he’s a Hylian.”
“Isn’t he like a child or something?”
“Might as well be.”
“I heard he’s a good warrior.”
“Porcelain is right, he’s too pale, he looks sickly.”
“He’s puny.”
“His hair’s nice, though.”
Naboris listened to the inane chatter of her tribeswomen as she leaned against a pillar, looking outside. The compound that Ganondorf had established as his home base was a hollowed out sanctuary, ruins of ages past when the Gerudo had once been a mighty people. It hardly counted for anything now, but since he’d cleared the area of mindless beasts at least it gave them some semblance of shelter from the heat and wind.
“Listen to them,” another chief, Tavmon, huffed. “So caught up in seeing a man that they don’t even think about the fact that he’s Hylian.”
“All men are Hylian,” Naboris threw out dully, annoyed that Tavmon was talking at all.
“This one is their savior, though,” Tavmon fired back, crossing her arms. “I don’t understand why we haven’t killed him yet.”
“Doesn’t he carry something our king needs?” a different Gerudo chief, Harima, asked.
“I believe he could extract the Triforce piece by force,” Tavmon replied. “It doesn’t make sense.”
No, Naboris supposed it didn’t. None of this was fitting right, none of it was sitting well in her gut. She was already leery about the entire situation to begin with – it wasn’t as if the stories passed down through the generations sang Ganondorf’s praise, but many of the stories came from Hyrule, so Naboris knew better than to believe all of it.
She couldn’t say she trusted their new self-proclaimed king, but she couldn’t stop him, either. His strategies confused her at times, though, such as this move to take the Hero of Hyrule hostage. It would only bring the armies of Hyrule down on the Gerudo tenfold. Naboris and her tribe had managed to survive the ire of Hyrule and stay alive as a result, but that was by keeping their heads down and their presence unknown. If Ganondorf truly wanted to destroy Hyrule, then this didn’t seem the way to do it.
But Naboris supposed she didn’t really know what Ganondorf wanted. Only that she had to survive it and act as his lieutenant alongside his minions, Ghirahim and Zant.
Her mouth pulled into a frown. Those minions were certainly… interesting. She was surprised Tavmon wasn’t cackling in evil glee alongside Ghirahim at the prospect of butchering the people of Hyrule. Although Ghirahim seemed less interested in slaughter and more interested in furthering Ganondorf’s goals, alongside… something else.
Ghirahim was obsessed with the Hero.
As for Zant, he just acted like a zealot. He should get along well with Harima, but Naboris supposed that was an insult to the younger teenager. After all, Harima was just looking for security, and a Gerudo strong enough to unite all the tribes certainly would come across that way.
She didn’t really like any of it, but she didn’t have a choice after Ganondorf had defeated her. She was surprised she was still alive, honestly.
Sighing, Naboris tuned out the murmurs of the different tribal leaders and went to get some food. She’d wait and listen, and she’d figure it out.
And maybe she’d talk to that Hero.

Link wasn't entirely sure how long he had been stuck in this bedroom after the Gerudo women had left, but he knew it had been too blasted long. By his third attempt to get out of bed, he had at least finally managed to sit up without immediately wanting to pass out. If he could just manage to get up, it would be a start.
The room was small, and the only supplies were medicinal, with the exception of some food and water. No weapons in sight, naturally, but he wouldn't expect any from...
Well. He couldn't exactly call this place a cell, but he was a prisoner nonetheless.
Why had they captured him? Why hadn't they just killed him? Did they need him to use the Triforce? Couldn’t they just kill him for it?
Goddess… Link felt his blood run cold. The thought of Ganondorf having near full possession of the Triforce, with all the stories he’d heard of the demon king…
But that still begged the question: Why was he alive?
He couldn't imagine why they possibly needed him. Cia had been obsessed with him but had still tried to kill him; Ganondorf didn't even care about his existence, right? Destiny dictated that a hero chosen by the goddesses and the sacred sword could defeat whatever demonic foe besieged Hyrule, but that didn’t merit capturing him.
He wasn't finding out the demon king’s logic. He was getting out of here.
As soon as the thought crossed his mind, the door swung open, making the captain jump. He tried to stand and face whoever was entering, but all he succeeded in doing was nearly face planting on the floor until strong, steady hands caught him.
"Naboris figured you might try to get up," a deep voice rumbled.
Link's blood ran cold. This wasn’t Ghirahim or Zant. This wasn’t a Gerudo foot soldier. There were no men in the Gerudo except for one.
Ganondorf.
The captain tried to struggle against the monster's grip, but he was still too frustratingly weak. Before he knew it he was scooped up into massive arms, and a mild panic squeezed his chest so tightly he couldn't breathe. He couldn't stand to be so close to the man, so completely and utterly helpless and vulnerable in the arms of someone who could crush him in a heartbeat.
When he was gently lowered into the bed, he stared at Ganondorf in a mixture of bewilderment and wariness. The man still bore the golden jewelry and crown that he’d seen glinting in the desert battle, but most of his armor was stripped away, leaving a dark, thin tunic that looked fairly worn. It made him almost look normal, like any of the soldiers at the barracks, but it was twisted, a normal image hiding a dark beast beneath.
Link glared at him. "What do you want from me?"
Ganondorf raised an eyebrow at the question. "Currently, I want you to stop trying to get out of bed. You're going to worsen your condition."
Link narrowed his eyes. "And then?"
"And then?" Ganondorf repeated. "And then you'll get sicker, foolish child."
"What difference does it make to you?"
Ganondorf sighed. "Despite whatever idea of me you might have, I'm not interested in you getting yourself killed."
Link inhaled sharply to throw out a retort and found he had none, his mind too weary for whatever biting remark it usually would conjure. Then images of the battle came to mind, and he suddenly found he had far more words than he could say all at once. He settled for, "Killing people hasn't seemed to bother you that much."
Ganondorf watched him a moment, his expression unreadable. It made Link squirm. Finally, the man looked away. "I understand your impression of me is based on the war. Think of me what you will. You'll be surprised to know my intentions with the Triforce are not to destroy everything. I have my motives, but they are not…”
He trailed off, eyes growing distant, and then he shook his head. “You are correct, though. Killing does not bother me. War is war. So behave.”
The words tore through Link's uneasiness, setting his heart and mind on fire. He jerked upright in the bed, ignoring the dizzy spell that accompanied it. "War is war?! That's your excuse for causing Hyrule to be torn apart at the seams?! Is that what you said before they sealed you away as well?!"
"And what words does your queen use?" Ganondorf fired back, his voice lowering dangerously.
"Queen Zelda is trying to protect Hyrule!" Link argued, his vision blurring as he turned to face his enemy more fully. "This entire war started because of you, because of your corruption of Cia!"
"I had my soul torn into pieces and was sealed away," Ganondorf said, his voice growing quiet, and the air in the room grew impossibly heavy. "Would you not do anything to escape such a torturous fate? I used what abilities I had to manipulate someone powerful enough to do the deed. The destruction she wrought as a result is not my doing."
"Nice way of saying you started this mess but don't want to take responsibility for it," Link snapped.
Surprisingly, that gave the king pause, and he sighed, looking away. "I cannot claim responsibility for what I have not done. I won't. Everything that has occurred since my return is my doing. Not before."
Link was growing too worn out for this argument, but he still had too many things to say. When he opened his mouth to do so, however, he coughed instead, collapsing onto the pillows. Ganondorf's gaze returned to him, softer, more contemplative, with his brow furrowing a little in what almost looked like worry, and it baffled Link beyond comprehension.
His enemy shook his head subtly with another sigh and tucked the hero in a little better. "I figured this conversation would be too much for you in this state. Get some rest, child."
The captain wanted to scream at him, to find the Master Sword and gut him, but between the man's strange look and the teenager's own exhaustion, all he could do was comply, closing his eyes.
I've found a strange artifact inside me similar to the one I've located on Vah Medoh. Its function is unknown and i'm unable to safely assess any damage it could cause.
I require your assistance, mother

hmmm... It does indeed looks very similar to that thing Revali was holding...
...
I... really think it would be best for me to avoid touching that...
although it is true my arm hurts the more close I am to it...
This is my first actual tumblr post, so sorry I have not really gotten tumblr culture. I'm aware that people may not see this, but this is not really made specifically for people to see. This a way for me to write down my thought process for my self-indulgent totk rewrite. So this post and others that I make like it will probably be very rambly. And for people who do see this is NOT a writing prompt if you want to take inspiration from this go ahead, but please don't write this fic as I plan to write this fic. Everything from this point on is brain rambles, please bare with my spelling and grammer.
I have NOT played ANY zelda games and I may never play any, I get into fandom through media about that fandom not the actual canon material. I hope this explains some parts of my thought process and where I get my information, second-hand, so please forgive me for anything I get wrong about totk. As said this totk is self-indulgent and with inspiration from videos & other posts. I will probably come back and edit in links from posts that I took inspiration from. I also accidentally took some very heavy inspiration from the Familiar Familiar- totk rewrite au, to the point where I took a whole concept or two. So please go read that comic if you have found this you will probably enjoy it a great deal. As for how that happened brain loves to latch on to concepts while forgetting where it came from.
Right actually getting into the AU. Starting with my thoughts on totk or the what I know about it, and some things I want to do. So I like the idea of dragon Zelda and/or partial dragon Zelda after she gets turned back. A mostly human/hylian Zelda with the light dragon horns, eyes, spikes, and/or scales,
is such an interesting idea to me and it has so much fic potential that I would love to use. And this self-indulgent totk rewrite will be used for linked universe au (there will be more about that later here or in another post), so I will probably use it at some point. Point two, I like the Zonai's design, with their big ears and longs fluff hair, Rauru. I would probably just add a few minor things that would make them look closer to the ancient hero's aspect,
a longer prehensile tail with a good amount of tail fluff and give them the digitigrade feet of the hero's aspect, but those are personal changes which will be included in this/my rewrite au. Oh an making the Zonai horns larger. And the idea of Zonai secret stones is interesting and has some potential, I will be reworking them with inspiration from the amber relics from Skyward Sword.
Not to mention there implications and role they may have in Zonai culture before they started interacting with hylians/Hyrule at large. Plus the thought of Zonai being godlike beings from a hylian perspective, I would love to see things from a Zonai point of view. Along with the whole descended from the sky thing, like maybe they lived on what was skyloft with a cloud barrier hiding them and everything with/and/or that place in totk above the cloud with that golden hour lighting where you pull the master sword from the light dragon's head.
And you can't see that cloud barrier from the ground which would make it so no one would even known they were up there. Three, as for the time travel I like the idea of exploring the past of botw/totk since those games are so far separated from any of the previous game and timeline. But what bugs me to no end is the absolute disrespect to the previously established Zelda lore and the breaking of the master sword that just... Its the Sword of EVIL'S BANE, and it shatters. I have not even been in the zelda fandom for a year, but the disrespect of ANY long standing series lore irks the very core of my soul I swear. Plus with the focus on the princess' of hyrule and the fact that the hyrulian monarchy likely being a matriarchy and them not really focusing on Sonia and/or why she has a time powers. Four, this is more to do with in game stuff and biomes, like the few and far between sky islands or the desolate depths being so big yet so empty. Like more sky island with diverse biomes on them and a still spooky depths, but a larger amount of depths specific flora, fauna, & monsters. Also having the ability to use, interact, and build functional ancient machines and NOT letting Zelda/Flora use it feels like a crime. Not that I like the murder of the sheikah tech, but still not letting Flora have zonai tech abilities... I don't think I need to say more. That is most of it, I think.
So this self-indulgent rewrite au is also born of the question what if both Link/Wild and Zelda travel back in time (and the hatred of the butchering of Zelda lore). So that will happen because I want Link the meet the people of the past, I can have Zonai Link (explained later), and so the fic can be both flora and wild centric with a person first perspective (third-person) with the past. (we will come back to this) [Ganondorf Section] Also I was originally was just going to keep Ganondorf pure evil, but after scrolling through totk rewrite tumblr I have seen the light and made Ganondorf not evil and I say morally good. And I saw a thing where Sonia and Ganondorf were hugging plus friends which my brain has latched on to the idea, so here in this au they are childhood friends because I say so. (we will come back to Sonia to) Plus Ganondorf's skin is not green it will be the same color as the Gerudo woman, it will turn green during/after the possession (another post). Ganondorf has a twin sister, the ancient lightening sage (more later, including name), the angst potential is fun. Ganondorf and his twin sister were still raised by two surrogate mother who taught Ganondorf magic and his twin a little less magic. These surrogate mother are NOT Twinrova they are named after them and possess the same type of magic plus are dead by the time (haha) of the time traveling, I think their names could be Kouma & Kotako. This also follow the naming convention of divine beast Vah Ruta and Vah Naboris, who are both named after Ocarina of Time characters. And I'm thinking about a plot where original Twinrova have been revived and have disguised themselves as normal Gerudo warriors an have managed to work their way up the latter into being Ganondorf personal guards, and are trying to leading the Gerudo back into dark, Ganondorf and the twin (lets just call her Naboris for now) are NOT having it. (and they fight zonai link/wild) Plus Twinrova have kept their original names, Koume & Kotake, and I'm thinking that it is tradition for the Gerudo king's personal guards to have their names inscribed on their blades. I imagine that Ganondorf and Naboris have been trying really hard to improve the the relations between the Gerubo and Hyrule, since I'd think Hyrule & the Gerudo have been at war some years before this not in Ganondorf and Naboris' life time at least a decade off. And they have managed to tame at least a large group of Moldugas, of which Ganondorf and Naboris have been using them to help with trade & to ferry passengers. Plus a SMALL number have been repurposed for the Gerudo armed forces for the protection of travelers & civilians. [Naboris Section] Naboris, Ganondorf's twin sister, the Lightening Sage (which is a later development you get my point) knows some sorcery not as much as Ganondorf, has lightening powers of which she shares with her brother though Naboris is more powerful and skilled with her's. She and Ganondorf share leadership, Naboris does most of the training for their armed forces and pretty much runs the Gerudo military, Ganondorf does most of the other stuff neither are weak. She also created the group of the Seven Heroines, who are a group of elite Gerudo warriors the best of the best, she is also the Eighth Heroine her statue was moved because she the twin sister of Ganondorf and his possession (take a guess if though facts are related). At some point before the twins birth, when the Zonai descended at least, the Gerudo became associated with Camels and some point before that the Gerudo got lightening powers. My best explanation for the lightening is electricity, sand, and static I will let you come to your own conclusion. Another thing that will come up in a later section (worbuilding), but Ganondorf & Naboris are demigods.
[Rudania Section] We will be calling the Fire Sage Rudania because I don't have a better name. This section will probably not be as long as the Gerudo section, for the pure fact that there is only one character here and I don't have much for this character. I imagine Rudania as an older man well worked with plenty of experience and he worked his way up the latter into becoming the Goron Elder. His a Grandfather figure, his power has some thing to do with lava and molten rock his roll attack leaves a trial of molten rock in his wake I imagine he can throw lava/molten rock too. Plus Goron strength, he also has a close relationship with Rauru and Mineru. At some point before the he was born, when the Zonai descended at least, the Goron became associated with Lizards and some point before that the Goron got molten rock/lava powers. Has helped move travelers across death mountain redirected several lava flows for that purpose, dug through lava flows for better rock. Checks in on Rauru and Mineru every little while, found a tunnel deep in death mountain that leads to the depths old Zonai/Goron runes (Fire temple) under death mountain leads up into the tunnel Rudania.
[Medoh Section] We will be calling the Wind Sage Medoh because I don't have a better name. Very skilled archer and best wind powers of the era can use wind to direct their arrows flight path and create a tornado? of winds. Sworn protector with specific protective streak with Rauru & Mineru, raise the Zonai siblings three ways with the Fire and Water sage (thought of just now) either an uncle/aunt or parent figure. Use the Wind temple to patrol the skies for threats and to clear bad weather mainly stays around Rito territory, but will go further especially if its a bad natural disaster. Also helps with disaster clean up has multiple sibling I'm imagining their the older or middle child, 4-5 siblings used to large family sees Rauru & Mineru as family. Either a high ranking warrior and/or in the line of succession for leadership of Rito village. Maybe a wind barrier to deflect projectiles or wind slashes snap enemies in half. Tornado wind barrier that releases wind slashes when it stops I feel like that is my best idea yet and it still repels projectiles. And imagine combining that with Revali's Gale. It makes since that the Rito are associated with birds and have wind powers. (and that the Goron have lava powers to late now)
[Took a two week break continuing now]
[Ruta Section] We will be calling the Water Sage Ruta because I don't have a better name. I think Ruta is the Zora equivalent of a doctor combined with a herbalist. She is not a part of the Zora royal family, but she does closely server them. Rudania flew on the ship with Medoh to Ruta immediately after first finding Rauru and Mineru, becoming and older sister to them. Has the ability to purify water, heal injuries and (to an extent) diseases. And teaches these abilities to other Zora not wanting them to be lost, she teaches all background, but some specific backgrounds are the royalty, nobility, and merchants. You stop by her class she teaches you. Yes, this is why Mipha can heal injures and Sidon can purify waters, though I imagine because they both only have one ability of Ruta their abilities are stronger. (where the herbalism and disease healing went in another post) For her ability I imagine a water shock wave that harms and pushes enemies if done in/near impure water it purifies them. Though it can be used on land. Taught Mineru some stuff and they worked together to try and deal the malice/gloom. It would make since for the Zora to have water powers, but when the Zonai descended at least, the Zora became associated with Elephants.
[Sonia Section] I did say that we would get back to Sonia and here we are. As previously said Ganondorf, Naboris, and Sonia are childhood friends, all being royal. Like the other two she is almost a demigod (to be exampled). Sonia is the queen of Hyrule in the time Link/Wild and Zelda/Flora travel back to. Her father died when she was 17/18 and she became queen the main monarch of Hyrule. The Kingdom of Hyrule normal names every daughter born Zelda, Sonia's mother is the one who named her and she was not from the royal family. Sonia's name also has meaning, as she is named after the goddess of time. She was born with her tattoos, Ganondorf and Naboris also tattoos. She and Rauru started dating around age 20, while current day they are late twenties-30. She grew out her hair to match Rauru. The throne room is set up differently with Sonia's throne being the biggest and in the center, Rauru's a bit smaller and to the left, and their is a smaller throne to the right. That last throne is for Sonia and Rauru's daughter, who is named Zelda. (I will nickname her later for convenience) Whenever she uses her time powers her tattoos glow white, and when she uses it on an object/creature white chains appear attached to it. If she just just freezes it there will be multiple chains similar the stasis and when rewinding it a chain will pull it back to its original position. When channeling her power into a secret stone (to be renamed) her power glows white. Sonia's hair is unnaturally light for a hylian. Sonia has a plump body type that is all muscle, she fights with a long curved sword. She was given a secret stone (to be renamed) as a token of their marriage. I'd like to think that she can pick up Rauru. And Sonia is the warrior type, she fights for her kingdom and spars with the sage & the Gerudo twins.
[Rauru Section] Ah Rauru, one of two of the last Zonai and the king of Hyrule. I have already gone over my changes to the Zonai. Rauru is about the same age as Sonia. It is a custom in Zonai culture to name children after deities, sage, oracles, & similar figures. The powers the Zonai have were given to them by the gods, you can tell what powers a Zonai has by their third eye. Members of the same family can have vastly different powers. Rauru's third eye is the eye for light power, golden eyelashes, light purple sclera, a blue iris, and green pupil. And named after a sage of light from the era of myth. Rudania is a Grandfather figure to the Zonai siblings. Medoh is a Uncle/Aunt (gender neutral name for it) figure to the Zonai siblings. Ruta is a Older Sister figure to the Zonai siblings. Rauru is older than Mineru. Rauru is friends with Ganondorf, but better friends with Naboris. Rauru is the priest/sage figure despite his stone making him Very Powerful, but he is a good strategist. Him and Naboris like playing strategy games against eachother, other sometimes join in. Ganondorf and Sonia last the longest against those two, not long in comparison to their games against each other isn't that long. Rauru likes and is good with children. Rauru and Mineru were found by Rudania in the depths, them using there powers to protect themselves. When younger they were never apart and still visit each other often. Before they had a place of there own they would shift between Rudania, Medoh, and Ruta's homes. Rauru is good at making jewelry, he made Sonia's necklace. He is incredibly charismatic. [Mineru Section] Mineru, one of two of the last Zonai, the younger sister of Rauru, and the expert on Zonai Technology. In my au Mineru is not the sage of spirit, she is the sage of shadows and has shadow powers. Having a shadow powers adds some contrast with Rauru. Her third eye is the eye for shadow powers, silver eyelashes, black sclera, yellowish green iris, and bluish purple pupil. She is also not very good with people. I say Zonai Technology, but with me keeping the Sheikah technology I'm going to have to make a clear distinction between them. So it is less technology and more Zonai magic, the Zonai parts will work the same just reskinned to be magic. Zonai tech?/magic is powered by the natural magic that is in Hyrule. The blue liquid and fire for sheikah technology is a very refined version of that energy. That magic is channeled in luminous stone, they extract that energy. Zonaite is a golden colored metal that traps the natural energy and helps build many thing, Zonai charges for example. Mineru's lab/shadow temple is in the depth making it easily for her to study malice/gloom and have a lot of zonaite available. Ruta taught Mineru some medical knowledge and basic healing magic.
[Ancient Zelda/Fauna Section] The Zelda of the ancient past, Sonia and Rauru's daughter, half hylian half zonai, who I have nicknamed Fauna and will refer to her as such. Despite her being half Hylian she still looks most Zonai though she doesn't have a third eye, but Fauna does have a power unique to her. She has light and time powers, plus she can talk to animals. Animals often listen to her as well, Sonia and Rauru don't know Fauna has this power. That is because of her lack of third eye. Like her mother Fauna has markings, where her third eye would be she has a mark that looks like an eye. Her is hair very fluff and thick it covers her eyes. Fauna's hair is between chin and shoulder length and its a little lighter than Sonia's hair color. She loves being outdoors and hates being trapped inside. Fauna travels with her parents around Hyrule and she loves meeting new people. She does not have a secret stone. Either when old enough or her parents die, she gets both their secret stones. That all I have for her, I don't really know what else to say.
[Link & Zelda/Wild & Flora Section] We are coming back to the fact that both Link and Zelda travel back to the ancient past. I'm changing a few small things for my linked universe au that will take place after this fic. So this does not take place several years after botw, just some months because I want Wild to still be 17 (117) in the linked universe fic. Link's age timeline goes, 16 calamity awaken, 116 revival, 117 defeats calamity, 117 start of rewrite (few months later), 117 end of fic (another hand of months later). I did that to explain how him and Zelda will age when they go back in time because they don't. When they travel back they don't age physically or mentally, they travel back at 117 and return at 117. The prologue is basically first malice than gloom, link defeat calamity ganon all the malice disappeared the blood moons continued and became stronger than just before Zelda and Link explore the castle gloom starts appearing near the castle. The intro will mostly be the with just a few differences, Zelda & Link go beneath the castle, Link with Sheikah Slate & Zelda with Purah Pad. They find the ruins of Rauru and Sonia's castle, which was built on over the centuries to create botw/totk's hyrule castle, they keep going deeper into the lower inner sanctum and they are met with a mummified corpse kneeling energy spiraling around it and up with a floating stone right above it's head. The stone flickered than falls landing at Zelda's feet, she picks it up and it gets a golden glow. The spiraling energy is stretched up like a spring, the mummy then begins to moves. It recognizes Zelda and Link & speaks to them with effort it raise it's arm sending a wave of gloom towards them. Link has the Master Sword raised, the blade glows when the gloom hits it some disappears part of the wave persist and hits Link's arm. Link kneels and holds his arm, the chamber shakes the ceiling rises and the floor begins to crack, Zelda runs to Link the floor under him breaks he falls and Zelda dives after him. She catches him and pulls him into a tight hug/hold as they fall, there is a flash of golden light and they are gone.
[Story/Worldbuilding Section] This story has two parts, the first part takes past in the past and the second is in the present. The first and last chapters of the fic are going to be the Prologue and Epilogue. Zelda is going to get most of the Zonai abilities while Link keeps the champion abilities and sheikah slate abilitied plus new arm abilities, and another secret set of powers. In botw/totk's ancient past there was a disaster that almost caused the end of all races in Hyrule, it had links to malice. The Zonai, by request of the gods, descended to help after it was taken care of the gods of the Legend of Zelda walked the lands of Hyrule in turn having several demigod children across Hyrule. Sonia, Ganondorf, and Naboris are three of these demigods. This goes into MY AU for the Zelda pantheon, Sonia is the daughter of the Goddes of time, Ganondorf & Naboris are the child of the goddess depicted by the Desert Colossus from past Zelda games. The renaming the Secret Stones, my three favorite names for them is Amber Tears, Divine Tears, Divine Ambers, or Divine Relics. I will probably call them Divine Relics and make Ambers by a nickname for them. Next, the name for this AU, I was thinking the name be Tears of Divine Amber or ToDA. Tears coming from the original game title and the shape of the Divine Relics. Divine being that the gods roamed in the ancient past, the demigod characters, and that the Zonai are seen as god-like beings. And Amber from the Divine Relics nickname, the amber relics from skyward sword, and amber frozen in time plus time travel. So this is the end of the first ramble for this AU.

While in the ancient past of Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda witnessed history in the making and befriended the Sages she learned of in history books. They reminded her so closely of the Champions that she at first acted strange around them (even if she tried her best to hide it). In battle, she would throw herself between them and the attacks of monsters (and Ganondorf). She would take risks she knew were better not to take. It ended up being Naboris, the Gerudo Sage, who made the situation clear to Rauru and urged him to reconcile whatever made Zelda so altruistic. When Zelda found out, she was reminded even more of someone she lost... but she was more grateful than ever to know she was again surrounded by people who cared for her.
