Thinking about the parallel where Zagreus got raised mostly by Achilles and Nyx while Mel got raised mostly by Odysseus and Hekate.

People always talk about Achilles and Hektor being foils but we don't talk about how Patroclus and Hektor have a lot of parallels.
My favorite parallel that I made this post for comes from Briseis and Helen.
When Patroclus dies, Briseis gets her only speaking line where she talks about how she mourns for him because he was always kind to her and helped her through her grief of her family. Being her only speaking line, this is her only indication of finding anyone kind to her (not to say that there weren't, but I keep this in mind).
When Hektor dies, Helen talks about how Hektor was the only one who actually made an effort to be kind to her, even when everyone else was rude or treated her poorly.
I just think it's such an interesting parallel to have the two main women aside for the Goddess' specifically talk about the one male character that they found to be kind to them. And for those two men to be Patroclus and Hektor.. Like I never see anyone mention this. To me this is genuinely such a small but powerful comparison to be made.
These captive women who likely reasonably disliked everyone around them got some semblance of comfort from what seems to be exclusively one person. And for those men to be Patroclus and Hektor just shows such a powerful parallel between their natures.
The discussion of what these means for Briseis and Helen is such a complicated one I don't want to get involved in because it gets heated fast, but just know I am very interested in their sides of this as well and how this also makes them parallel characters. They do bounce in my head.
Anyway. Hektor and Patroclus parallels. I think thats part of the reason why their endings are so powerful. We see similar funerals on both sides. We think about how Hektor could've likely been a friend to both Achilles and Patroclus in another universe. It's just very intriguing to me.

Sometimes I think about how, when they met, Achilles was considered extremely sweet and kind-hearted while Patroclus was considered a violent killer. And then by the time they die, Achilles is considered a violent killer while Patroclus is the one considered sweet and kind-hearted
