Did anyone else read the Mutran Chronicles and the part about the Blade Burrowers’ mysterious tunnels... Only to be severely disappointed when it was revealed it was just the Three Virtues symbol, AKA that symbol that is everywhere in the Bionicle franchise, and extremely well-known amongst the Matoran?
And somehow, Mutran didn’t recognize the symbol even up until the invasion of Karda Nui (which started at least within 1000 years ago, after the Great Cataclysm), nor did the Toa who was forced to look at them... The Toa, who was once a Matoran. Maybe they kept the truth from Mutran, but why? Pure spite, despite how obvious it was?
Not to mention Mutran describes it as something that haunts him to this very day, that symbol, that it could mean the potential doom of the Makuta and yet... It’s just the Three Virtues symbol. Meant to remind Mata Nui and the Makuta of their mission sure, but nothing too impressive. And yeah I guess the ‘mission’ ultimately DID doom Makuta, since bringing together the three fragments killed him in the process...
But it’s honestly really disappointing and underwhelming a reveal imo. The ‘map’ is framed as some ancient secret totally alien to all, from Kalmah to the Toa to the Makuta, even the Blade Burrowers themselves... And the reveal that it was just to remind Mata Nui and Teridax of their missions was kinda meh. The reveal didn’t really live up to the speculation whatsoever, nor did it make sense in-universe, what do you guys think?
And now the thrilling conclusion.
This was a bit easier.
