All this discussion is kind of why I dialed back my cast's alleged power threshold recently. I've already received feedback from people that this is a good thing. Frankly I don't want my characters to be invincible. Imposing, fine, but not to the point where their very existence in a scene nullifies any meaningful conflict.
I still maintain the real problem isn't so much a character's abilities and more than it is a writer using them as an excuse to not treat their RP partners with fairness in the narrative, but that's a rant for another day.
