Took the kids to soft play after school today, because I am trying to be more fun. Unfortunately, my back went into spasm when I was in a tunnel, which made me feel significantly less fun! 😂🙈 Oh well, at least they were in a fun place and could entertain each other while I sat down, trying not to groan. There are a lot of things I really enjoy doing with my son. Going on walks, just the two of us. Building epic marble runs. Setting up dominoes for him to knock down. Trampolining. One thing I really, REALLY do not enjoy is playing football. It's ok when it's a class, but at home, it's the worst. Jon plays football with him most days, and it's a lovely bonding experience for them. Jon obviously has significantly more chill than me... I feel like I'm under attack!! This boy can KICK! You can barely even see the ball in this photo, it's going so fast! My reflexes are reasonable, and I manage to deflect the ball from my face most of the time, but I hate it! I've been on day-long hikes less frustrating than this 30 minute walk. It started off lovely, hence the sentimental photo of my adorable little son. Then his hands got cold. Feeling like a pro, I produced gloves. He wouldn't ride the bike while wearing the gloves (apparently not grippy enough), so I carried the bike and all was well for a few minutes. Then my body betrayed me. I have hypermobile joints. My shoulder blade shifted and caused a pinched nerve. Pain shot down that arm and my fingers swelled up. I couldn't hold the bike with my left arm any more, because it hurt too much. My son wouldn't hold the other hand, because it had my wedding and engagement rings on. I couldn't get them off my swollen fingers. He wouldn't walk next to me without holding my hand either, so I ended up doing a ridiculous relay with the bike and my son, who stood grumpily waiting for me to move the bike a few metres along and then come back for him.
