I do believe the message of the post is important, so here's an elaboration on my thoughts with inclusive language:
Multisexual people, be they bi, pan or anything else under that umbrella, are often not expected or allowed to have a complicated relationship with gender relating to their sexuality.
I fully believe this is because multisexual people are often also attracted to people of their opposite gender (where applicable), and this makes them "less queer" in the eyes of the masses, so it really comes down to this age old bullshit, where attraction between "opposite genders" is seen as inherently lesser than. Which is ridiculous and i hope y'all see why. The issue with (many) straight couplings is the heteronormativity, the assumptions and the societal expectations going unquestioned to a toxic degree.
A bi/pan/omni/poly/multisexual person is, however, NOT in a "straight relationship". To the same extent as any other queer person, the multisexual person has been forced/ invited to challenge the assumptions of heteronormativity.
THIS INCLUDES GENDER ROLES, GENDER PRESENTATION AND GENDER IDENTITY
There's no inherent reason why bi+ people would be less likely to challenge and gripe with these topics.
Personally I am bi and my gender is a clusterfuck. But a thing i often say jokingly to my partners of different genders is that "my gender is whatever makes my attraction queer". Is that a problematic sentiment? Probably.
Is it absolutely true to how I experience my gender and sexuality/romantic orientation?
Yes.
Being multi gender attracted is so fucking rad!! Like it truly lives the philosophy of “you can’t like just one”. Bi, pan and other multisexual identities are fucking ethereal!! May specifically mspec people have a bomb ass day. Go take over the monosexist establishment🧡
It's okay if you just identify as m-spec. It's okay if you don't want to use other labels.
It's okay if you use lesser known labels. It's okay if you want to be as specific as possible
It's okay if you fall somewhere in between those. It's okay if you're not sure
Your experience with your identity is your business.
Nobody else gets to tell you who you are or aren't.
