There’s a one-shot in progress I’ve been slowly working on for the past two years, give or take, where my three dorks have themselves a grand day out in the countryside in early July (1914). Since nobody’s around for miles, they have a picnic, illicit cuddles, a dip in the pond, and then put just enough clothes on to be decent (ish) and comfortable. (Elizabeth’s corset is offscreen with the boys’ waistcoats and jackets. In the car lorry Tommy borrowed from his boss for the day, probably. Which he promised he’d teach Jon and Elizabeth to drive - after the nap.)

Every one of their friendships started off a bit begrudgingly. These are all defensive people with a lot of walls up, but they manage to find common ground and can relate in a lot of ways.

I jokingly deemed them a Tsundere Trio. Yes, Gilbert has a tsundere side, it's just not always as noticeable with him.

Arthur and Gilbert in particular both have a bad habit of claiming they love being alone when they feel like they're unable to get someone else's company.

They all have a lot of pride and get embarrassed when someone pops a hole in it, but they've grown comfortable enough with each other to be a little more open than with others, and even when they aren't, they still know how to read between the lines to understand what's actually being conveyed. It's harder to hide behind defences that are constructed in such a similar way to someone else's defences.

Arthur and Lovino have certain behavioural patterns that they easily recognise in each other, which leads to them often calling each other out or teasing the other. Lovino tends towards directly calling Arthur out, while Arthur gets a huge kick out of seeing right through him and teasing him when he tries to cover his feelings.

Arthur and Lovino love to sit around with all their salt and roast the other nations together.

Gilbert and Arthur are more on the wild, reckless side than Lovino and like to drag him into their shenanigans and pranks. They also find it very easy to mess with Lovino himself.

Out of the three of them, Gilbert is probably the least experienced when it comes to romantic/sexual relationships.

Lovino is the best cook and generally won't eat anything from Arthur unless it's a dessert. Gilbert will try anything from either one of them, and can make a few dishes himself, though sometimes his methods of making them are questionable.

Gilbert is the neatest, Arthur tries to be neat but has a habit of losing things, and Lovino has a lot of clutter, but will work hard to clean up his stuff when he is able to put his mind to it.
