C&NW E8A 5021A hits car at Mt. Prospect Road by James Lewnard Via Flickr: Caption: “On June 15th 1971 a westbound C&NW commuter train led by E8A 5021A was hit by an older woman who did not know that the gates mean stop. She fortunately survived the incident while delaying the train for about an hour. The Mars light in the upper headlight casing was still operative, displaying a red, rotating light when the train went into emergency. Notice that this is one of the E8s that did not have a herald on the nose.”
