ď˝ď˝ď˝
Victor stirs from his doze on Yuuri's shoulder, into which he promptly muffles a weak noise of pain.
He had drifted off to whatever movie Yuuri put on for them, hoping the rest would help his headache, but it only seems to have gotten worse. Between coughing fits that leave him breathless and the constant cycle of chills and overheating, this illness is really getting on his nerves.
But, he supposes it's not all bad.
A strong arm is wrapped around his back, holding him close. The warmth of Yuuri's body next to his does wonders to fend off the chill of his fever. He smiles when soft lips press against the top of his head. "Hey," Yuuri whispers, a consideration Victor's pounding head is grateful for. "Feeling any better?"
Victor answers with another noise of pain. His eyes remain closed, though his head aches too much to allow him to fall back asleep. His chest is heavy with congestion, and he feels a bit dizzy despite hardly moving, but having Yuuri here like this is enough to make the pain bearable, at least slightly.
When Yuuri's hand cards though Victor's hair, he sighs out in content and snuggles further into Yuuri's body, absorbing all of the warmth that he can. Above him, Yuuri makes a noise that sounds adoring and fond. The hand in his hair continues its magic for a few more moments, then gently trails down the side of his face until it's cupping a flushed cheek.
"Your fever seems to be risingâŚ" Yuuri murmurs, thumb stroking his cheek. Victor hums, half in response and half in bliss. Yuuri's touch is heavenly, and Victor instinctively leans into it. He allows his eyes to flutter open. The glow from the screen hurts his eyes, even with the brightness on the lowest setting, but Yuuri's gaze is soft and Victor finds it all too easy to melt into it.
Yuuri's expression softens with sympathy when he sees Victor wince against the bright lights. "How's your head?" he asks.
The question is innocent, but under the influence of fever and pain and spoiled with affection, Victor's lips quirk upwards in a playful smile. "Well, you haven't complained so far, so I'd say pretty good."
By the look on Yuuri's face, it's obvious he doesn't get it. His face is blank, like a freshly resurfaced ice rink. He blinks. Blinks again.
Victor can only laugh. Though he quickly comes to regret that decision as laughing leads to coughing and coughing makes his chest hurt and makes his head hurt even more.
"What's so funny?" Yuuri asks, somewhere between amused and concerned, rubbing Victor's back as he struggles to catch his breath.
Once the fit is over, he sags limply against Yuuri. "You didn't get the jokeâŚ" Victor pouts.
"Oh, I did. It just... took a second is all."
Victor rubs at his temples with a shaky hand and a grimace. All joking aside, his head feels like it's about to explode, cracked open like a watermelon hit with a baseball bat.
"You're such a dork. I love you," Yuuri says, sweetly kissing Victor's forehead.
"Love you too," Victor says back, managing a smile though the pain.
"Now then," Yuuri says, slipping away from Victors embrace and getting up, "Tylenol?"

Prompt: how about yuuri breaking a bone or something at practice, and victor not being there (out of the country for reasons). But yurio is. Victor has to trust yurio to help yuuri. And i do not mean for yuuri/yurio to be a thing lol. Just family feels, i guess. :)
letâs just ignore the fact that Yuri has a coach who should be there at the rink
1600~ words
ď˝ď˝ď˝
The ice crunches beneath Yuriâs skates as he cleanly lands a jump, promptly followed by another. The wind flows in his hair as he glides, and he canât help his satisfied grin.
Victor is gone, out of town for the next couple of days for some sponsor-related thing. Yuri canât remember the exact details, but it doesnât involve him anyways, so why should he care? All he cares about is that he can finally get in some actual practice time. Most days, itâs impossible to focus with the endless flirting Victor and Yuuri get up to. Yuri is unspeakably relieved he wonât have to witness that, and heâs also pleased that Yuuri can have some time to focus on his own skating and up his skills too. Yuri wants him at his best when they compete. It wouldn't feel right winning, otherwise.
Now, without Victor around, there are no distractions. Or at least, that would be the case, if Yuri wasnât so abruptly pulled from his thoughts by a sharp yelp that belongs to Yuuri. The dull thud of a body meeting the ice reaches Yuriâs ears (not for the first time today), and it's with a sense is superiority that he casts a glance over in that direction.
Yuuri lays on the ice, his back to the younger skater. After a long moment spent audibly breathing hard through gritted teeth, Yuuri manages to use an arm to push himself up so heâs sitting on his knees. The position heâs in makes it obvious that he hasnât sprained his ankle or something stupid like that, which is a relief, since Yuri wouldn't want the hassle of having to carry him to the benches.
Slowly, (perhaps a bit too slowly, Yuri dares to think) Yuuri makes it to his feet, with the help of a hand on the ice to steady himself. Then, with a long and shaky exhale, he starts to skate again.
Yuri slows down his own skating, watching curiously as Yuuri struggles through what should be easy elements. His lips are pinched in a thin line, his eyebrows are drawn together. His step sequence is a far cry from its usual polished perfection. Yuri would make a snide comment about it, but the words die on his tongue as Yuuri makes for the boards where his water bottle is.
Yuuri has stamina that could outdo Yuriâs three times over, as much as he hates to admit it. To see him take a break is enough cause for concern, especially given the fall Yuri just witnessed. Even more alarming is the way his head is ducked down, his face twisted in an evident grimace.
âKatsudon?â
Yuuri either didn't hear him or is pretending like he didn't. He's too busy reaching for his water bottle, clenching it in a white-knuckled grip as he brings it to his lips and takes a drink. He sets the bottle down with a little more force than necessary. Then, after some carefully controlled breathsăźand not a single word or glance to Yuriăźhe pushes off from the rink wall and returns to the ice as if nothing happened.
Bullshit, nothing happened.
âHey,â Yuri calls after him. He gets no response and scowls. As if he is going to let himself be brushed off by some dime-a-dozen skater who thinks he's all that because he won a silver medal at the Final. Did he forget who took gold?
Yuri pursues him, irritation increasing when Yuuri still seems set on refusing to acknowledge him. âKatsudon,â he calls again, not bothering to hide his annoyance. âStop ignoring me, dammit!â He reaches for Yuuri's shoulder to turn him around. âWhat the hell is wrong with you today? You'reăźâ
Yuri doesn't know what he was expecting, but it certainly wasn't Yuuri protectively cradling his arm to his body with tears in his eyes, breathing in a way that can only mean heâs desperately trying not to cry, go into a panic attack, be sick, or perhaps all three.
Yuri replays the earlier tumble in his mind. While Yuuri's legs may have been fine, he was definitely favouring one arm while pushing himself up off the ice. He must have injured his wrist breaking his fall.
âYou're hurt,â Yuri pieces together.
âI'm fine,â Yuuri says, much too quickly. Obviously defensive and even more obviously a lie.
âYeah, and I'm the queen of England. Come on, let me see it.â
He reaches for the injured hand, and Yuuri instantly recoils, holding his arm more protectively to his chest. âDon't touch it!â
âI'm not going to touch it, I just need to see,â Yuri snaps. âAnd if it's fine like you so claim it is, then there shouldnât even be a problem in me touching it.â
After a tense moment, Yuuri reluctantly extends his arm out. âSorry,â he mutters, eyes downcast. His teeth dig into his lower lip in a way that Yuri can tell means heâs trying hard not to make any noise of pain. âIt hurts.â
âShould I callăźâ
âNo!â Yuuri snaps his head up. âNo, donât call Victor. Iâm fine.â
âFine?â Yuri echoes back in disbelief. He gestures to the collection of bruises colouring the unnaturally swollen joint. âYou call that fine?!â
âItâs⌠probably just a sprain.â Yuuri sounds more like heâs trying to convince himself than Yuri.
Yuri has seen his fair share of sprains. Hell, heâs received a couple on various parts of his own body. This⌠this looks like it might be a little worse than that. How could Yuuri even skate in this condition? Sure, you donât necessarily need hands to skate, but his wrist must be causing him excruciating pain, especially if it is broken. Yuri would almost be impressed at Yuuriâs ability to push past the pain, if he didnât already think him an idiot for risking further injury.
Yuri rolls his eyes. âCâmon.â He grabs Yuuri by his uninjured arm and starts pulling him towards the benches. âYouâre in no condition to skate, and donât give me any more of that âIâm fineâ bullshit,â he adds when Yuuri opens his mouth to argue. âVictor will kill me if he finds out you hurt yourself because I let you do something stupid.â
When they get off the ice, Yuuri sinks down onto the bench, not saying a word. Yuri stands in front of him, arms folded across his chest. His phone is a lead weight in his pocket; heâs still debating calling Victor, an idea he contemplates further when Yuri notices the exaggerated rise and fall of Yuuriâs shoulders with each heaving breath. He's coming up on a panic attack, and feeling out of his depth, Yuri's own panic swells. Victor is usually the one who deals with this kind of stuff, not him!
Not knowing what else to do, he places a hand on Yuuri's shoulder. âItâll be alright. Just⌠breathe and stuff. Okay?â
Miraculously, that seems to be enough. Yuuri manages a nod and closes his eyes, taking slow measured breaths until he regains control. âThanksâŚâ
âDonât mention it,â Yuri says, meaning it.
Yuuri keeps his eyes down and busies himself with trying to untie his skates. His progress is slow, and he doesnât get very far. His uninjured hand is visibly shaking as he fumbles with the laces, and whenever he tries to use the other it draws a hiss of pain.
Yuri huffs. âI got it. Move,â he says before kneeling in front of the bench.
Yuuri lets out a long breath and cradles his hand to his chest again. âIt really hurts.â His voice is hardly a whisper, and though heâs no longer about to go into a panic attack, itâs clear heâs not doing well.
Yuri sets Yuuriâs skates on the bench and rises to his feet. âIt looks bad,â he says, grimacing when he catches sight of the injury again. He doesnât try and asses it, not after how Yuuri reacted before, and instead reaches into his pocket to pull out his cell phone. âIâm calling Victor.â
âWait!â
Yuri pauses, the phone halfway to his ear, and raises an eyebrow at Yuuri.
âYou know you canât hide this from him. Heâs going to find out eventually.â
âI know, I just⌠I donât want him to worry,â Yuuri frets. âIâll call him later. Once we know everythingâs okay.â
Yuri slips the phone back in his pocket. âWhatever.â He's not about to let himself get roped into their domestic disputes. âThen on that note, Iâm dragging your ass to the emergency room.â
Heâs prepared for Yuuri to argue, to start on another plethora of Iâm fineâs. Instead, Yuuri gives him a look of almost smug amusement. âI didnât know you cared so much.â
âYou wish. I just donât want Victor freaking out at me because you were an idiot.â Itâs much easier to act inconvenienced than to admit that he actually cares.
âWhatever you say,â Yuuri says, still far too pleased with himself for Yuriâs liking.
Yuri turns his head to the side with a tch before standing up. âYou may have fucked up your wrist pretty bad, but your legs are fine, so get up and letâs go already.â
He doesnât wait to see if Yuuri is following him before he heads in the direction of the change rooms, hoping the light flush on his cheeks will go unnoticed.
From across the rink, Yuuri scrutinizes the item held in Victorâs hands. The logo of Victorâs favourite cafe is displayed on the front of it, the familiar design revealing it is one of the special filtered tea mugs Victor loves to gush about. While the sight of him clutching a travel mug at morning practice is not an unusual one, seeing it now has Yuuri slowing to a stop on the ice as he gets a better look at his coach.
It's not that Victor doesn't like tea. It's far from an odd occurrence for Victor to bring a thermos with him to stay energized through practice and warm against the chill of the cold winter weather.
Only now there is no chill, as it's the middle of spring.
âTired already, Yuuri?â Victor calls, his wide smile conveying the quip about Yuuriâs stamina that he doesn't voice.
Yuuri narrows his eyes at Victor, paying his comment no mind. âYou never drink tea,â he says accusingly.
For a moment, Victor looks like he's taken off guardăźalmost as if he were caught in the actăźbut he quickly composes himself. âI do sometimes,â Victor replies simply, taking a sip rather nonchalantly.
âYeah,â Yuuri says. âWhen it's freezing outsideăźwhich it's not right now. Or when you need the caffeine, or when your throat is really bothering you because you're sick.â
That causes Victor to flinch, and Yuuri knows he's right.
âIt's nothing,â Victor dismisses with a wave of his hand and a smile practiced to perfection. âI'm just a bit tired. I didn't sleep too well last night is all.â
Yuuri is well aware of the fact. Victor had been doing nothing but tossing and turning. Yuuri is surprised to hear he got any kind of rest at all.
It's obvious to Yuuri that Victor is sick. Or at the very least coming down with something. While it's likely not obvious to anyone else, the signs are all there. It's not even just the mug of tea, itâs the fact that Victor tried to hide it from Yuuri. He had prepared it and packed it in secrecy, much like he had hid his illness the first time he had been sick in their relationship. Yuuri would have thought that by now that Victor wouldn't try to do these things on his own.
Yuuri is tempted to advise they cut their practice short, that they go home and Victor rests, but he knows the idea will be shot down the moment he suggests it. Plus, as much as Yuuri hates to admit it, Victorâs condition isn't bad enough to warrant sentencing him to bedrest. At least not yet.
So instead he settles for letting Victor have his way for a while, and pretends he doesn't notice when Victor turns away to cough into the crook of his elbow.
Yuuri runs through his routine again and again, until the movements become more natural than breathing. Victor gives his compliments and critiques, each one sounding more tired and strained than the last. Yuuri still doesn't voice his concern, knowing even now it will fall on deaf ears.
He loses himself in his skating, until the ice feels like it's moving beneath his feet, as if it were the one dancing for him, rather than the other way around. The sharp slice of his blades echoes in his ears, the crisp and cool rink air fills his lungs with each heavy breath. He pushes himself harder, thoroughly enjoying every minute of it, until thoughts about Victorâs steadily deteriorating condition are all but forgotten.
He comes to a finish in the centre of the ice, breathing hard, feeling confident about a performance well done. He had landed every single jump, even the quad flip, though the landing was a bit shaky which he doubts Victor will let slide. His spins were tight, his step sequence was remarkable as always. Though Victor insists there is always room for improvement, and Yuuri is ready to hear where he should start.
But surprisingly there is no such input from Victor. Only silence. Puzzled, Yuuri turns and looks for his coach and finds him plucking a number of tissues from the plush poodle and blowing his nose into them.
A pang of annoyance surges through Yuuri. Victor just missed a near-perfect run through of his routine. (Even perfect run throughs are near-perfect to Victor.) But then, as Victor emerges from behind the cover of the kleenex, Yuuri feels all of his annoyance melt away into pity.
Even from a distance, Victorâs nose is noticeably red. His eyes (which have yet to notice Yuuri staring) lack the usual sparkle, and there are dark smudges underneath them. Victor sniffles, stuffing the used tissue into the pocket of his jacket, then wraps it more tightly around himself as he visibly shivers. His overall form broadcasts his exhaustion, the tired sigh he releases further proving that point.
âVictor?â Yuuri calls, causing Victor to snap his head up.
His cheeks are flushed, which could easily be from embarrassment at the realization he had missed Yuuriâs routine. Though judging by everything else Yuuri has witnessed, he's willing to bet Victor is running a fever.
Victorâs posture changes in an instant. He straightens up and takes his hands out of his pockets, forcing a smile that Yuuri sees right through.
âAh, sorry Yuuri. I got a bit distracted for a minute there,â Victor says with a lighthearted laugh, as if that will distract Yuuri from how hoarse his voice sounds. âI'm sure your routine was lovely! Though I wouldn't be opposed to seeing you do it again. I'm confident you have the stamina.â
Yuuri has had enough. He makes his way over to the boards where Victor is. âMaybe I do, but you don't.â
Victor blinks, still acting innocent. âI don't know what you mean.â
âYou're obviously sick,â Yuuri points out.
âIt's⌠just a little cold,â Victor relinquishes, his voice quiet and sheepish. âI can still coach you. I'm fine,â Victor insists, or at least he tries to; his breath catches and he sharply turns away to sneeze before he can finish his sentence.
As Victor groans and reaches for a tissue to blow his nose yet again, Yuuri picks up the mug of tea and hands it to him. Victor accepts without a word, takes a sip, then heaves a sigh as he sets the drink down.
Yuuri takes Victorâs hand in his and runs his finger over where the ring is. It's covered by his glove, and that is another dead giveaway to Yuuri that Victor is well and truly sick: he never passes up an opportunity to flash their engagement rings. He must really be chilled.
âCome on. Let's get you home,â Yuuri says.
He expects Victor to argue, to insist he's okay to keep coaching, despite all evidence pointing to the contrary. But Victor must either be feeling that bad, or perhaps he can't find it in himself to resist Yuuriâs sweet charms, because he just smiles, adoration written all over his features, and lets Yuuri lead him by the hand to the benches.
Would you do the nightmare prompt for Victor? I think that one would be so cute!!!
âI know youâre scared of getting nightmares, but you wonât get better unless you get some sleep.âÂ

When Yuuri returns to the bedroom carrying a bowl of cold water in hand, he canât help but give an exasperated sigh at the sight that greets him. On the bed, Victor is sitting propped up against a pile of pillows, rather than lying down like he was when Yuuri had left. His eyes are at half-mast, and keep drooping shut then snapping open again at the last second as he forces himself to remain awake. Heâs so out of it that he doesnât even notice Yuuri has entered the room until he says his name in a somewhat admonishing tone.
While Victorâs reluctance to get some sleep is frustrating, one look at himăźwith his unkempt hair, heavy bags under his eyes, and a dark flush painted across his cheeksăźleaves Yuuri feeling nothing but worried, and incredibly sympathetic towards his poor sick fiance.
Yuuri places the bowl of water on the nightstand and takes a seat on the bed. âYou look tired.â
Victor slowly shakes his head. ââm not tiredâŚâ he mumbles, and the words might have held the possibility to be convincing if he hadn't immediately followed them with a yawn.
âYou are,â Yuuri argues, though not with malice. âI know you're scared of getting nightmares, but you won't get better unless you get some sleep."
Victor casts his gaze down at his lap and says nothing. The clear distress in his tired and feverish eyes drives a stake through Yuuriâs heart, much like when Yuuri had first woken up to Victor throwing himself into his arms after witnessing a nightmare. Try as Yuuri might, he was unable to coax Victor into sharing what he had seen that distressed him so. The only words he uttered to Yuuri (or perhaps just to himself) were, âjust a dreamâ over and over again, as he shook his head as if to dispel the images from his mind. Yuuri could do nothing but hold him close, rubbing wide circles on Victorâs back as he cried until tears soaked into his shirt. Any attempt at sleeping after that resulted in a similar scenario, until Victor decided to forgo sleep altogether.
While Victor jolting awake terrified and clinging to Yuuri is far from ideal, itâs been hours of this self-inflicted insomnia and Victor looks just as miserable as before, if not worse. Itâs time he got some proper rest. âYou don't need to be afraid, Victor,â Yuuri soothes him, taking his hand and kissing the golden band on his finger. âIâm right here. It will be okay, I promise.â When Victor still doesnât acknowledge Yuuriâs words, he attempts to ease Victor so heâs laying down once more. He acquiesces far too easily, which is a relief as much as it is a cause for concern.
Once Victor is comfortable, Yuuri grabs the cloth from the bowl on the nightstand and wrings out the excess water. Itâs nice and cold, which should feel good on Victorâs heated skin, Yuuri thinks as he gently brushes Victorâs bangs out of the way.
He drapes the compress on Victorâs forehead, causing him to flinch, and Yuuri quietly shushes him as he continues to stroke his hair. âRelax.â Yuuri takes one of Victorâs too-warm hands and holds in his own, stroking the back of it with his thumb. âClose your eyes,â he says softly, and after a second, Victor does. âIâll be right here,â Yuuri repeats. âTry and sleep for me, okay?â
Victor manages a tired nod, and Yuuri gives his hand a light squeeze. Itâs a testament to just how exhausted Victor must have been that his breathing evens out in less than a minute. And here Yuuri was contemplating singing him a lullaby. Smiling fondly, he tucks the idea away in case he needs it later. Still holding Victorâs hand, Yuuri finds comfort in the steady rise and fall of his loveâs chest and the serenity written on his face as he finally gets the rest he needs.
Viktor--"Can I ask you to do something for me?" :)
âYuuri,â Victor calls, or more accurately whines from where he lays on the bed, trembling beneath a blanket. Part of him wants to cringe at sounding so needy, but the other part of him argues that heâs sick and feels like actual death, so wanting his fiance to comfort him is far from a crime.
Yuuri is at Victor's side in an instant, crouching down in front of the bed, and Victor feels relief wash over him as Yuuri's warm brown eyes meet his. âWhat is it?â Yuuri asks. His fingers absentmindedly run though Victorâs hair, and he shivers, knowing all the while that the action has little to do with his fever.
âCan I ask you to do something for me?â
âAnything,â Yuuri says without hesitation, and Victor feels a smile tug at the corner of his lips at the thought; he doesn't doubt for a moment that Yuuri honestly would do any and everything for him.
âCan you get me some more tissues?â he requests with a sniffle. The box Yuuri had placed on the bedside table only a couple of hours ago is already half empty, Victorâs nose red and rubbed raw from using it so frequently. âThe ones with the lotion?â
âOf course,â Yuuri says with a smile. âI'll be right back.â
Yuuri stands up and makes to exit the bedroom, and Victor mourns the loss of contact immediately. He instead focuses on the beauty of Yuuri's retreating form, wondering even now how he ever managed to ensnare such a wonderfully attractive man for himself.
Many sniffles later, Yuuri returns with a new box of tissuesăźthe softer kind, as was promised. The box is freshly opened and ready to use, and Victor gratefully accepts when it's handed to him.
âThank you, Yuuri,â Victor says after blowing his nose. It still hurts, but noticeably less so than the tissues he was using before.
âIt's not a problem,â Yuuri replies sweetly. He takes the used tissue from Victor and tosses it in the trash, without even being asked. âAnything else you need?â
Victor pauses to think. âMaybe some more water? It's not cold anymore and my throat is so sore,â Victor moans. Even just talking like this is enough to make it worse.
âI can do that,â Yuuri says. âAnd I can make you some tea as well?â
Victor smiles so wide his cheeks hurt. âI would love that.â
Yuuri places a very gentle kiss on the tip of Victorâs nose, causing his already-warm cheeks to heat up from the affection. âTwo minutes,â Yuuri promises, before he's gone again.
He returns as quickly as he said he would, with a glass of cold water in one hand and a steaming mug of tea in the other. Both do wonders for Victorâs sore throat.
âCan I get you anything else?â Yuuri asks. âA cold washcloth? Cough drops? I could put on a movie if you want. Or maybe not, if your head is still hurting.â Victor winces, his head throbbing at the mere thought of flashing lights assaulting his already aching eyes. Upon seeing Victorâs discomfort, Yuuri instead offers, âTylenol?â
Victor nods. âPlease.â
As Yuuri retrieves the pills, Victor can't help but recall Yuuri's earlier words. When Victor had asked Yuuri if he could do something for him, his response had been âanything.â Given his actions now, it's evident that he was not lying. And seeing how willing and eager he is to provide comfort, Victor can't help but want to test just how far he can take this.
âFluff my pillows?â Victor asks once he has taken his medicine, and Yuuri does.
âFix the blanket please? I'm so coldâŚâ Yuuri adjusts the blanket already covering Victorâs shivering body, then grabs yet another one from the hall closet and tucks him in tight.
âAny other requests?â Yuuri inquires after further darkening the curtains like Victor had asked. He doesn't sound annoyed. In fact, far from it. He shows absolutely no qualms about catering to each and every one of Victorâs whims. Itâs incredibly sweet, but Victor still wants to see where Yuuri will draw the line.
âCan I have a kiss?â he asks. Yuuri will surely say no, unless he wants to get sick and feel as miserable as Victor does now. (Well, miserable save for a loving fiance doting on him.) Perhaps Yuuri will indulge him with a kiss on the forehead to check his temperature, or maybe a quick peck on the cheek. But there's no way Yuuri will actually kiss him for real.
How quick Victor is to forget that Yuuri has always managed to surprise him.
Yuuri leans in and presses his lips to Victorâs before the man has any opportunity to protest.
âThere,â Yuuri says, smiling as he pulls back. âHowâs that?â His cheeks are a similar shade to Victorâs, though from embarrassment rather than the cold that Victor now knows with certainty Yuuri is going to catch from him.
âYou're going to get sick!â
Yuuri seems completely unfazed by this. âDid that make you feel better?â he asks.
âWell, yes, butăźâ
âThen it will be more than worth it.â
Victor can't find any further reason to argue, so he doesn't. Defeated, he can only slump back against the pillows Yuuri so kindly fluffed for him, and relish in the knowledge that he well and truly has the best fiance in the whole world. That's just a fact.
âI have one last request,â Victor says.
âYes?â Yuuri prompts, just as eager and willing as the previous times.
âStay by my side?â
He doesn't even finish his sentence before Yuuri is crawling under the covers with Victor and securing him in an embrace.

Feverish crack, based off of this prompt by @lumpy-whumpy
Set somewhere between episodes 3 and 6
Minor warning for mentions of pregnancy, sex and mpreg (tho none of them actually happen or have happened).
900~ words
ď˝ď˝ď˝
Yuuri bursts through the door to Victorâs room, wide awake and panicking despite the ungodly hour of the morning.
âVictor!â Yuuri shouts as he hurries over to the bed, where a blanketed lump is sleeping. Yuuri shakes his shoulders, calling his name again. âVictor, wake up! Help me!â Victorâs response comes in the form of a sleepy groan, then the covers are pulled back, revealing a very bleary-looking living legend.
âYuuri?â Victor says, voice gravelly and a bit slurred from sleep, but heâs quickly becoming more awake as he registers Yuuriâs alarm. âWhatâs the matter? Is something wrong?â
Yuuri thrusts the small electronic device in his hands at Victorâs face. âI have 102.1 babies inside of me!â
A long pauses follows, filled only with the rapid beat of Yuuriâs heart as it pounds against his ribcage. Victor just stares.
âYuuri, thatâs a thermometer.â
Yuuri doesnât even process Victorâs words. His mind is reeling, running at a million miles per minute. âThis is all because of your eros!â Yuuri bemoans. âYour eros is too strong! I should have tried harder to stay away, but I didnât and now Iâm pegrent!â Yuuri says, but thatâs not the right word, is it? He tries again. âPegnate! No⌠pergenat! Dammit, thatâs not it eitherâŚâ He scrunches up his face in thought, cursing the English language and itâs many immense difficulties. âPregananant!
âPregnant?â Victor helpfully provides.
âYeah, that!â
Yuuri drops his arms to the side with a huff of air, sitting down on the bed. Victor sits up, taking a spot next to Yuuri. âThis is just like those skating fanfictions I used to read. Stupid mpregsâŚâ Yuuri mutters to himself. Karma is truly a bitch.
Victor blinks. âWhat?â he says, but Yuuri once again pays him no mind, too caught up in the whirlwind of anxiety.
âI canât be pregnant, Victor! My parents will kill me! You and I haven't even had sex! Which makes me sad, to be honest. And now we canât for nine months because Iâll be pregnant!â Yuuri laments, borderline hysterical. âWith 102.1 babies! Thatâs so many! We have to think of what to name them all. And weâll have to go shopping for clothes. And weâre obviously going to have to teach them how to skate. You are going to father them with me, arenât you Victor? Oh please tell me you are! I know it might not be the best for your image, but I just couldnât bear the thought of doing this aloneăźâ
âYuuri, Yuuri, slow down,â Victor cuts off his rambling, placing a calming hand on his shoulder. âTake a deep breath.â Victor takes one in demonstration, and Yuuri follows his lead. The flurry of emotions escapes along with the breath he releases, his swirling thoughts no longer threatening to consume him.
âYou just have a fever,â Victor tells him. âYouâre perfectly fine.â
Yuuriâs eyes widen. âI have a fever? Iâm sick? But what about⌠what about the babies? Will they be okay?â
âYuuri, you are not pregnant. You have a fever of 102.1. You need rest. Come on, Iâll take you back to your room.â
Yuuri finds himself nodding. Now that heâs with child, he needs all the rest he can get.
âWill you carry me?â Yuuri asks. âWalking isnât good for the baby. Well, babies,â he corrects himself. 102.1 babies⌠He still canât believe it⌠What will his stomach look like? Will he ever be able to get his body back into shape after? And oh god, what does all of this even mean for skating? His career, and Victor is coaching himăź
And now Victor is carrying him, Yuuri scooped up in Victorâs firm and muscular arms.
Instinctively, Yuuri wraps his arms around Victorâs neck, holding on tight as Victor lifts him like heâs nothing. It feels nice. Vaguely, Yuuri hopes Victor will still be able to lift him so easily even when heâs carrying the weight of 102.1 babies inside of him.
All too soon, Yuuri is lowered onto his bed, back in his own room. Victor tucks him in and pulls up the blankets, making sure Yuuri is comfortable and has everything he needs.
Then he heads for the door.
Yuuri reaches for him in a panic, grasping on to a fistful of his shirt.
âWait, arenât you gonna sleep?â Yuuri asks, not letting go.
Victor looks at him confusedly. âYes?â
âWell thereâs only one bed in here, and you canât sleep on the floor, so that means we have to share!â Yuuri declares, then promptly breaks off into a fit of giggles. âItâs just like in the fanfictionsâŚâ
âI was going to go back to my room,â Victor explains. âYou need your rest, Yuuri. Youâre not wellâŚâ
Yuuri only shakes his head. âStay with me.â He fixes Victor with pleading, watery eyes, and is just about to add, âItâs for the babies,â but Victor is already climbing underneath the covers to join Yuuri.
Yuuri moves towards him immediately, longing to be closer. He wraps his arms around Victor, the man visibly stiffening, though he slowly relaxes as Yuuri pillows his head on his chest. Victorâs heartbeat sounds against his ear, just on the edge of fast, but undeniably strong and soothing, quickly lulling Yuuri to sleep. He melts into Victorâs embrace with a blissful sigh.
âIâm glad youâre the father,â Yuuri mumbles as he nuzzles Victorâs chest. âYouâll make a great dad.â The last thing Yuuri registers before succumbing to sleep is Victorâs gentle laugh, and fingers running through his hair.

âPlease, you need to calm down.â
Victor is anything but calm. Heâs panicking, the heart rate monitor he is hooked up to beeping loud and insistent in a way that only aggravates the throbbing in his head. Heâs being held down by a woman in a doctorâs uniform, a couple of other people are surrounding Victor, ready to move into action when given the word. How the hell is he supposed to stay calm like this?!
He has no idea whatâs going on, or what happened. All he knows is he woke up with no memory of how he got hereăźwherever here even isăź and now he is terrified and needs to get out. Needs to escape from this bed and run out the doors. Heâs not too sure what heâll do from there, but he can figure that out later. For now, the only thing on his mind is the desperate need to escape.
He thrashes against the arms holding him down, kicking out his legs for good measure, but all that does is cause pain to flare up. Victor squeezes his eyes shut and moans. Voices sound all around him, thereâs too much sound, far too much for Victorâs overloaded and panicking brain to construe. Through the disorienting haze, Victor hears someone say, âYou have to stand back.â
Everything feels like too much. The smell of antiseptics is sharp and nauseating. The lights above him are too bright, even with his eyes squeezed shut. The throbbing in his head is excruciating, the confusion and fear is overwhelming. âStopâŚâ Victor manages to get out past a tight and dry throat. âPleaseâŚâ
âHold him down,â that same voice from before orders, before more armsăźas firm as the words commandedăźpin him down so he is unable to move.
âNo,â Victor weakly tries to protest. He opens his eyes to try and plead with woman there, his panic only increasing further at the sight of a long, slender needle held in her gloved hand. His eyes remain fixed on it, unable to tear his gaze away. His pulse pounds in his ears, and he tries futilely once again to free himself, but heâs only held down tighter.
Fingers are locked around his wrists, like cuffs pinning him to a table to be tortured. More weight is pressed on his legs, though less so on the one he can now distantly tell is injured. A palm is splayed over Victorâs chest, and heâs sure they can feel the rapid thump of his heart as it threatens to beat out of his chest. They can certainly hear it too, broadcasted by the equipment next to his bed.
The woman holding the needle moves, doing something with it that Victor cannot see. And then, after a long momentăźfilled only with the rapid rise and fall of Victorâs chestăźthe arms that are relentlessly pinning him to the bed ease. Victor nearly cries in relief. He can move again, put up a fight against these people, whoever they even are.
He tries to move his arms. Though they are no longer being pinned, they feel unusually weighed down. Sluggish, out of his control.
Victor blinks slowly. âWhaâŚ?â
His brain quickly becomes shrouded in a heavy fog. Heâs no longer consumed by panic, though it lingers at the edges of his consciousness as he struggles to understand why he no longer possesses his strength. He tries to lift his head, but moving only causes the room to spin. He lets himself weakly fall back against the pillow.
âThere you go,â a voice gently soothes. âSleep.â
Victor doesnât want to sleep. He still doesnât know where he is, or how he ended up here, or why his head is throbbing and his leg feels like it got run over by a truck. He doesnât know what awaits him in the darkness thatâs closing in on him with every passing second, and it terrifies him. He doesnât know what will await him on the other side of it, the next time he regains consciousness.
He tries to do somethingăźanythingăźto fight back, but even moving his fingers requires a tremendous amount of effort. His eyelids feel like they weigh a tonne, but he refuses to close them. He looks around the room, desperately searching for an exit. He has to get out of here. He has toăź
âItâs okay,â a voice soothes, and itâs a different voice this time. One that Victor recognizes in an instant. He didnât even notice he was in the room, but now heâs leaning over Victorâs bed. A hand comes up to caress his cheek, his soft brown eyes giving away the worry masked by his sweet but strained smile.
âYuuriâŚâ Victor gets out past slow-moving lips, but Yuuri only shushes him.
âDonât talk, just rest,â Yuuri whispers, still stroking Victorâs cheek. âItâs okay,â he says again, and Victor lets himself believe it. If Yuuri is here, then Victor knows heâs safe. Through the gentleness of his voice, the warmth of his touch, Victor feels himself falling deeper and deeper. The darkness doesnât seem so scary anymore. In fact, it seems inviting. The panic recedes, his breaths even out, the rhythmic beep of the heart rate monitor slows to its normal pace. His eyelids droop, then at last slip shut.
The last thing he registers before finally succumbing to unconsciousness is a feather-light kiss on his cheek, a warm hand in his own, and Yuuriâs promise that heâll be there when Victor wakes up.
Victor with appendicitis, based off of this request
Set somewhere before episode 6, because Iâm a sucker for the somp dynamic
Mild warning for nausea and brief emeto

ď˝ď˝ď˝
It starts as a mild stomach ache during practice.
Just a twinge of pain, hardly noticeable, but it still causes Victor to flinch. He stops in the midst of his footwork and places a tentative hand over his side where the spike of pain was, but the discomfort has faded as fast as it came, leaving him standing in place, wondering the cause and if he should be concerned.
âVictor?â Yuuri calls from a ways across the ice, snapping Victor out of his thoughts. âWhy did you stop?â
Mentally shaking his head at himself, Victor returns his focus to coaching Yuuri. âSorry,â he says with a smile. âGot distracted.â A half-truth, but he doesn't need to have his student worrying over him for nothing, he needs Yuuri to skate and improve so he can do well at competitions and make Victor proud! (Though in all honesty, Victor would be proud of Yuuri regardless of his scores.)
âWatch closely,â Victor says, then demonstrates the sequence again.
Try as he might to ignore it, the pain comes back. It creeps up on him gradually, gets worse as time goes on until it's forced to the forefront of his mind. But Victor has dealt with pain on plenty of occasions throughout the course of his career and can easily push past that.
So Victor skates. He grits his teeth, forces a smile, and he skates.
He has a job to do. He wonât let a little pain get in the way of that.
ď˝
By the end of the day, Victor is exhausted. Despite the many breaks he has taken, and the many drinks of water heâs had (both at Yuuriâs insistence), the discomfort has not quelled. In fact, far from it. Heâs been able to hide the source of his worsening condition from Yuuri throughout the entirely of practiceăźYuuri thinks it's just simple fatigueăźbut Victor doesnât know how much longer heâll be able to keep it up. Despite everything, though, he forces himself to make amiable conversation as they make their way back to the inn. He doesn't want to tip Yuuri off, and it also works to keep his mind off of the growing pain in his side. (Mostly). So Victor talks, smiling cheerfully as if nothing is wrong.
(Because nothing is wrong.)
He repeats it to himself over and over like a mantra, letting the rest of the world fade away as he loses himself in his thoughts.
âDo you not like the food?â Yuuri asks him over dinner.
Victor blinks. âHmm?â
âYou're hardly touching it,â Yuuri points out. It's true, Victor realizes. He's been picking at his bowl of rice, a side dish that came with the meal Yuuri's mother so generously prepared. He hardly has an appetite. Even just those small bites feels like too much; itâs a shock to his taste buds that causes his stomach to twinge menacingly.
âIs it not good? I can get something else if you like,â Yuuri offers, ready to run to the kitchen, but Victor just shakes his head.
âIt's fine, really,â he says. Hearing the words said aloud doesn't feel anymore reassuring than when he kept them in his head. âI think I'm going to head to my room for the night.â
âAre you sure you're okay?â Yuuri asks. âYou've seemed a bit off since earlier...â
âJust tired,â Victor lies, then adds with a teasing wink thrown in for good measure, âNot everyone has your stamina, Yuuri.â He makes to stand, when the pain suddenly flares up again, and he winces before he can bite it back.
âVictor?â Yuuri asks, concerned.
Shit.
âItâs nothing,â Victor says, a bit too quickly, if the expression on Yuuriâs face is anything to go by. âJust a little sore from practice.â To be fair, itâs not far off from the truth. âIâm sure Iâll feel better after some sleep.â
Yuuri seems to consider this for a moment, his brows furrowing. Victor would find it adorable if he wasn't so caught up on maintaining the facade that he is fine despite his throbbing right side.
âIf you say soâŚâ Yuuri at last gives in, though he still sounds unsure. Regardless, he doesn't bring up whatever it is he evidently still wants to say. âWell, goodnight, Victor.â
âGoodnight, Yuuri.â The smile plastered on his face is far too bright, Victor knows, and heâs sure Yuuri does too, but he turns and makes his way to his room before it can be commented on.
Victor breaks form the moment heâs alone in the privacy of his room. He collapses face-first onto the bed, moaning as the sudden movement and the position puts pressure on his ever-aching side. He lays like that a moment more, and only moves to strip off his shirt and toss it on the floor. He feels unbearably hot. Does he have a fever? Oh no, what if he has the stomach flu? Given the pain in his side, the lack of appetite, and the nausea that has been steadily creeping up on him, itâs a likely explanation, though he desperately hopes itâs not the case.
Yuuri has never seen Victor sick before (save for the occasional hangover). The thought of being so disgusting in front of his crush is a big turn-off, the idea of being so weak and vulnerable frankly terrifying. And on top of all of that, they both have work to do on the ice, and recovering from an illness would only be taking time away from that.
Victor does his best to forget about his worries as he turns over in his bed. His big, cold, empty bed, because Makkachin has abandoned him for Yuuri. Not that Victor can really blame her; if he had the choice, he would sleep in Yuuriâs bed in a heartbeat.
He closes his eyes, dreaming about what that would be like. Despite the pain in his side, it doesnât take him long to fall asleep.
ď˝
Victorâs eyes snap open, mere hours later, to the restless churning of his stomach. He immediately flings himself out of bed, tossing the blankets onto the floor and very nearly tripping in his haste to untangle them from his limbs. He runs down the hallway and heads for the bathroom, and falls to his knees in front of the toilet just in time to lose what little food he had eaten at supper.
His side throbs in time with his pounding head, his whole body shaking. While he would like to tell himself itâs just from the strain of throwing up, he knows itâs more likely his worsening fever, given how cold he feels despite the sweat beading on his skin.
It must be the stomach flu. Victor groans, tipping his head against the cool porcelain. Great. Just what he needed.
âVictor?â
Victor startles, the movement sending jolts of pain through his side. Yuuriâs voice is rough with sleep but the concern is clear as day.
âIâm fine,â Victor tries to say, but his voice is weak and shaky and doesnât at all support his claim.
Yuuri kneels beside Victor, and Victor ăźwith much effortăź forces himself to lift his head. Cool fingers caress his heated skin, brushing back silver bangs from his sweaty forehead. A shiver runs through Victor, and he leans into the touch without thinking.
âYouâre burning up.â Yuuriâs finger continue to comb through his hair, and it feels so good to be taken care of like this. Good enough to finally give up the act, though thereâs really no point in trying to hide it anymoreăźYuuri has seen right through him.
âThink âm sickâŚâ
Yuuri doesnât tease him, doesnât point out the obvious, doesnât say âOf course you're sick, why would you even try and deny it?â Instead, his soft brown eyes hold nothing but sympathy. âLetâs get you back to bed then.â
Victor aquieces far too easily, and allows Yuuri to wrap an arm around him and help him up off the bathroom floor. His side is still achingăźmuch worse than beforeăźas Yuuri walks him back to his room. He does his best not to show it, keeping his lips tightly pressed together, and bites the inside of his cheek when the pain gets to be too much.
Yuuri tucks him into bed, pulling the covers up to his chin and smoothing out the blanket over his shivering body. When he accidentally brushes over Victorâs sensitive side, Victor instinctually hisses and flinches away from the touch.
Yuuri freezes, drawing his hand back. âDoes that hurt?â Victor nods, biting on his lip to contain his cry of pain.
A stony seriousness writes itself on Yuuri's face, the likes of which Victor has only seen when Yuuri is on the ice, battling against a particularity difficult component. He moves his hand back to the source of Victorâs pain, and Victor jerks away before Yuuriâs hand can make contact. âDonât touch it,â Victor breathes out, voice panicked. He shields the area for good measure.
Yuuri doesnât relent. âI canât figure out whatâs wrong if you wonât let me touch you.â
âHurts,â Victor weakly protests, though he doesn't have the will to fight when Yuuri gently pries his hands away.
He grits his teeth as Yuuri puts pressure on his side. His touch is careful as he moves his hand around, but it still causes Victor to moan. The agony only worsens once Yuuri takes his hand away.
Through the haze of pain and fever, Victor vaguely hears Yuuri mutter a curse under his breath.
âYuuri?â
Yuuri utters the curse again, much less under his breath, his voice heavy with the weight of dread and something dire.
âWhatâs wrong?â
âGet up,â Yuuri says.
Victor blinks, remaining where he is. âWhy?â Wouldn't rest be the best thing for him right now?
Yuuri helps Victor up when he doesnât move himself. âWeâre taking you to the hospital.â
The words send panic coursing through Victorâs veins. Itâs not like he despises hospitals (not that he would say he particularly likes them either), but Yuuri sounds so serious. That more than anything is what scares Victor: how evidently scared Yuuri is for him.
âItâs just the stomach flu. Iâm fine,â Victor tries to reassure him, doing his best to ignore the fact that heâs never had any kind of stabbing pain like this when sick before. For his and Yuuriâs sake, he hopes it is just a simple virus.
âYou have appendicitis.â And just like that, all previously held hope vanishes. âYou need surgery, so weâre taking you to the hospital.â Yuuriâs tone leaves no room for argument. Victor swallows down the terror that rises up when he thinks about having surgery, and instead nods mutely and lets Yuuri drag him to the car.
ď˝
Their time in the waiting room passes by in a fevered haze. Victor sits in a chair with his eyes closed as Yuuri occupies the spot next to him, fidgeting with a pen as he fills out paperwork. The throbbing in his side has only seemed to get worse now that Victor has acknowledged it, same with his fever. His body is trembling again, though thereâs the possibility it could simply be from anxiety about the upcoming surgery rather than chills.
Victor tries not to think about that and instead distracts himself by trying to make sense of the language around him. Everything is spoken in Japanese, the sounds still foreign to Victor but slowly becoming more familiar. He can make out some simpler words and phrases, and vaguely feels proud of himself for that, but mostly he just feels overwhelmed. It doesnât help that he catches the occasional whisper of his name, his fever increasing what he knows is irrational paranoia.
Yuuri places a gentle hand on Victorâs knee, effectively stopping the bouncing movement Victor was unaware he was even doing. âYou okay?â Yuuri asks quietly.
Victor swallows down the habitual urge to say âI'm fine,â and instead admits, keeping his voice low, âNervous.â
âIt will be alright, Victor,â Yuuri reassures him with a kind smile. âThis is a very common procedure. The doctors know exactly what they're doing. They'll put you to sleep, then when you wake up, we'll be able to go back home.â
Victor manages a stiff nod in response, and Yuuri gives his knee a light squeeze before returning his attention to the many forms he's filling out.
The reassurances don't fix Victorâs worries, but he has to admit it does feel nice being able to share his fears and know he's not alone, and that Yuuri is there with him.
But all too soon Yuuri is forced to leave his side as he is left behind in the waiting room, and Victor is wheeled away and prepped for surgery. They put a gown over his shaking body and a mask on his face, and Victor barely even has time to freak out about the situation before unconsciousness takes him.
When he comes to, everything is an unclear haze. His body feels light and heavy at the same time, his eyelids feeling heaviest of all. He forces them open. His lashes flutter, and he squints against the too-bright lights, a noise of discomfort escaping past his lips.
There's the sound of movement from somewhere close by him, along with the steady beep of the hospital machines, and at last his vision focuses.
When he catches sight of the person at his bedside, Victorâs eyes widen in surprise, and the machine that is beeping steadily in time with Victorâs heart audibly picks up.
âYuuriâŚ?â Victor breathes out, unable to truly believe it.
Yuuri's eyesăźthose gorgeous brown eyes, so intently focused on Victorâs, and evidently worried for some reason that Victor has yet to fully decipherăźsoften as a bit of relief emerges on his features.
âYuuri?â Victor asks again, still in disbelief. Because this cannot be happening. âYuuri Katsuki?! From the banquet?!â
Yuuri's expression changes for a half second, some emotion that Victor cannot read flickering across his face before it's gone.
âYes,â Yuuri says, and his voice is so beautiful and real that Victor wants to cry. âIt's me, Victor. I'm here.â
âWow,â Victor exhales. His eyes remain focused on Yuuri's, then they find the ceiling and stay there, as if sending a mental prayer of thanks to any and all gods up above. He's beenăźagainst all oddsăźreunited with the source of his inspiration, his life and love, his everything, really.
âHow are you feeling?â Yuuri asks, breaking Victor out of his thoughts. Victor only looks at him confusedly, before smiling so wide his cheeks hurt. Admittedly it's a muscle he's not too used to working, so that shouldn't be too unexpected.
âNothing hurts, then? You're okay?â Yuuri asks, and Victor nods twice firmly.
Why wouldn't he be okay? Yuuri freaking Katsuki is in his hospital room! He's never been better!
âYou um,â Yuuri stammers. âYou don't have to keep saying my name like that. Just Yuuri is fine.â
Victor realizes he must have been speaking out loud. Either that, or the love of his life is a mind reader on top of everything else. Honestly, either option seems completely probable.
âOkay,â Victor agrees. âJust Yuuri.â He canât help but giggle to himself, his amusement only increasing at the small smile that Yuuri offers in return. Victor swears he has never seen anything more beautiful. Everything about Yuuri Katsukiăźno, just Yuuri, Victor reminds himselfăźis breathtaking. Absolutely stunning. From his eyes, hidden behind those blue-framed glasses, to his hair, so smooth and undoubtedly soft. Victor has the sudden urge to run his fingers through the dark stands. But he is sadly unable to move from his spot, laying on this hospital bed.
Wait, why is he even in a hospital anyway? Is he⌠is he dying? Oh god, thatâs why Yuuri is here, isnât it? Seeing Yuuri is Victorâs last dying wish. By that logic, this must be the end. But there is still so much more Victor wants to do with his life⌠Well, at least heâll die happily, with his beautiful banquet boy at his bedside.
He doesnât even notice heâs crying until Yuuriăźsweet, beautiful, gorgeous Yuuriăźis thumbing away his tears as he gently soothes him. âWhy are you crying? Whatâs wrong?â he asks. âShould I call in a doctor?â
Victor shakes his head. âIâm dying. They canât do anything to save me.â More tears fall from his eyes. âIâm just so glad I got to see you again⌠You never called me, after Sochi. I was so lonely. I thought you had abandoned me, but you came back⌠and now I can die happyâŚâ Yuuri takes his hand and Victor lets his eyes slip shut, ready to give in to the darkness once and for all, feeling oddly at peace.
âVictor, youâre not dying.â
Victor carefully cracks one eye open. â...What?â
âYouâre not dying,â Yuuri repeats. His voice is kind and reassuring as his thumb strokes over the back of Victorâs hand, his expression amused and fond.
â...Iâm not?â
âYouâre not,â Yuuri confirms. âYou just had surgery to get your appendix out. Youâre just fine.â
âOh,â Victor breathes out, incredibly relieved. But wait⌠âIf Iâm not dying, then why are you here to see me?â Thereâs no other reason for Yuuri to be at his bedside unless heâs dying. Right?
Yuuri looks worried, a cute little crease forming between his eyebrows. âYou donât rememberâŚ?â
Victor struggles to think, to reach back beyond the cloudiness of his mind. His eyes widen as heâs struck with a thought: Maybe he and Yuuri got married and Victor somehow got amnesia and forgot everything, and Yuuriăźhis husbandăźis at his bedside, desperately hoping for him to remember their loveăź
Victor shakes his head at himself. Yuuri? His husband? Only in Victorâs wildest dreams. Thereâs no way someone like him could hold on to such an incredible catch like Yuuri. There must be another explanation. Some logical reason that Yuuri would be here with Victor in Russia. Is he even in Russia? Heâs not sure. His mind is a muddled mess of things he doesn't understand, and he doesn't understand why he can't understand. He wants Yuuri to fix everything. Maybe a kiss from those lovely lips will help to kick-start Victorâs sluggish brain.
Heâs just about to ask Yuuri for that kiss when Yuuri says, âYouâre my coach. Youâre coaching me.â
Victor lets the words sink in for a long moment. âOh righttttt,â Victor at last recalls, the pieces of the puzzle starting to come together. âYou asked me to coach you! So I came to JapanâŚâ
âYes, you saw the video,â Yuuri helpfully provides.
âYou asked me to come! You were so cute!â Victor internally squees as heâs hit with the memory. Thereâs no way he could ever forget that hot mess of a man throwing himself into his armsăźhalf-nakedăźas he begged in drunken Japanese, then adorably accented English.
âA-anyways,â Yuuri mumbles, trying to change topics. âThatâs why Iâm here. Youâre my coach, and Iâm your student, and I canât train until youâre healed. So I... â he trails off, still shy, still so cute. âI have to look after you until you get better.â
âWow!â Victor gushes. âIâm so lucky!â
âLucky?â Yuuri echoes back, seemingly in shock that Victor can feel lucky after being cut open for surgery.
âMm,â Victor agrees. âI get the cutest doctor to take care of me!â
Yuuriâs cheeks darken into a spectacular shade of crimson, and he sputters and chokes on his own saliva. Still blushing, he mumbles something about getting a real doctor to check on Victor before ducking out of the room.
Victor can only laugh. Who knew the shameless Yuuri Katsuki from the banquet would be so easily embarrassed? It's incredibly endearing. And Victor has the honour of coaching this gorgeous man, who for the next little while will be nursing Victor back to health!
Victor melts into the hospital bed with a blissful sigh. If this is a dream, then he hopes he never wakes up.
